Embassy Review : |
Unfortunately Justin couldn't come with me. I got there 45 minutes earlier just in case.
There was a first queue I had to do at the entry of the embassy where I was asked for the letter (stating the date and time of the interview) sent in packet 4 (in Lima they send packet 3 and 4 together). Then, a second queue once I was inside. All I had to do was to show the same letter, then I was taken inside the building and told I had to wait to be called.
First I was called to window 14 where a lady asked for the receipt of payment from the bank, the two copies of the 156 form and the one copy of the 156K... then I had to wait again... maybe for an hour.
Later, I was called to window 10 where another lady asked for the results of the medical examination, certificates (birth, police, penal and judicial), for the affidavit of support: form 134, and for the evidence of the ongoing relationship (photos and all I could bring). She also checked my personal information and asked some questions about us (how we met, when we travelled, etc). Seemed like she was typing down everything I said... after this maybe I waited for another hour.
Both ladies were polite and professional.
Finally, I was called to window 9 (the important window!!) where an American man (later I realised he was the vice consul) said 'hola' followed by a 'felicitaciones' and asked me more personal details about the relationship. He gave me back my photos and all evidence of the relationship, asked some more questions (he was very polite and friendly).
He asked me if I spoke English to which I said yes and so he switched to English, said we both looked very good in our pictures!!
He eventually reminded me I have six month to go to the US and warned me not to buy my plane ticket before receiving my passport.
Of course before leaving the embassy I had to pay for the dhl service. In the K1 visa case, dhl does not deliver the passport to one's house, but to the San Isidro office (ready to pick up 2 days later).
So, I arrived at 8am and left at 12.20. Of course the first thing I did as soon as I left was to call Justin and tell him we had been approved!!! It was a long day, but it was worth it. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
