Embassy Review : Flew down from Edinburgh the day before the interview. This gave me time to scout out the area before hand and get settled in. I stayed at the Marble Arch Inn, a little bed a breakfast just a few mins walk from the embassy. The room was small and very basic, but it was a reasonable price and the staff were pleasant and helpful.

On the way to the interview I dropped off my phone at Gould's Pharamcy (a stones throw away from the embassy). It costs £5 for them to hold your items. There were a few other people there for the same reason so they obviously do quite well out of it.

I turned up at the embassy an hour early because I had heard there were normally busy lines to get in, but it was quiet so I decided to wait half an hour in the park and scoff down my mcdonalds toasted bagel.

Getting through security was fine. I had a bottle of water which they asked me to take a sip from to ensure it wasn't deadly (it wasn't, I lived, they let me in).

Once inside I went to the desk where a grumpy englishman gave me a ticket and told me to go upstairs to the waiting room. There were a couple of hundred other people, all with tickets of their own. It was a long wait. My advice is to keep yourself hydrated (there is a water fountain) and change your seat every so often to mix things up. It started to get busier around lunch time and it was 3 hours before my number was called out. I went along to the window where I handed over my fiance sponsor form and passport photos and then paid the fee. The woman gave me a pink form and asked me to go back to the seating area and wait for my number to be called out again. Luckily it was only about 15 mins before they called me back for the interview itself. The guy was very pleasant, asked me a few simple questions about where we met and what our wedding plans were. Once I had handed over all the paperwork he said I was approved. The interview only lasted about 2 mins and it's really nothing to worry about.

They said it would take 5 working days to deliver the visa and to return my passport. It's a long wait, but it feels great to be approved.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
