Comments : Had to move the interview date 5/20 due to us being out of the country. New interview date is for 7/18.

At interview on 7/18, wife passed all questions and received RFE for proof we were still living together. Didn't make any sense because we provided all bank statements, tax returns, and mortgage & utlity receipts for 3 years. Case officer requested the information again. Maybe they might have lost it. Anyhow sent information on 7/18 and awaiting feedback now.

Embassy Review : My wife arrived at the USEM at 530AM for her 7AM appointment. She entered the embassy around 6AM. The security guard gave her a waiting number and she waited until 930AM to be called for fingerprinting.

That 3 1/2 hour wait was the hard part of the whole day. From the time she was called for her fingerprinting, it took only 45min-1hr to complete the whole process. Once she was done fingerprinting, she waited only 10min for her prescreen interview.

The prescreener, a Filipino, was cordial and pleasant. He asked for our current email correspondence, pictures, and my W-2 statement from 2008. He asked questions like, “How did you guys meet? What does your husband do? What do you do for a living?” It was pretty much a 5-10min prescreen. Once finished, he said to patiently wait for the final interview.

It was only about 5 min after she sat down that she was called in for her interview. This time it was an American (who spoke Tagalog) interviewing her. The gentleman was even more pleasant than the prescreener. He pretty much asked the same questions. He did however ask my wife a trick question.. “Why did your husband immigrate to the US?” .. I am an American Citizen by birth and my wife did know that. So she responded that I was born and raised in the US. The interviewer then proceeded to stamp her documents and said that her visa was approved.

On a side note, it is VERY IMPORTANT that the beneficiary brings all expired passports. My wife recently renewed her passport and she had a tourist visa to the US. The consul asked to see both her old and new passport and proceeded to cancel her tourist visa.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
