Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 20, 2009
Embassy Review : Sorry i didnt post my review sooner, been busy getting things organised for my departure on the 26th March

So i stayed at the Marble Arch Inn Hotel the night before as my interview was at 8:30am.
My day started at 6:30am by waking up and jumping in the shower to get myself awake and fresh for what i thought would be a long day ahead. After getting dressed and all that, i set out the door at 7:20 for an easy 15 minute stroll to the Embassy which i had planned the route the day before, stopping off for a newspaper on the way for some decent reading material about United kicking Inter Milans arse the night before.
I arrived at the Embassy at a respectable 7:45 to see that there was already a good 30-35 people in line, there was me thinking i would be right at the front, ha. So after about 10 minutes in line you are asked to show your appointment letter to a woman just before entering the security doors, oh might i add that there are signe stating to show some DS forms and payment slip, K1 people ignore this, all you need to show is your appointment letter, so i would suggest you have this at the top of your papers.
So entering the Security kiosk you are asked to place your papers and files in a tray to go through the x-ray also your bag if you take one, then through the metal detector, basically its just the same process as security at the airport, no problemns and no worries.
So after leaving security you walk around the Embassy building to the main doors, where once again there was a queue, only 5-6 people, after entering the doors you approach a desk where you receive your 'magic' number on a white slip of paper, the lady explains take a seat and wait for your ticket to be called.
Entering the waiting area it was not as big as i thought, it is true what others have said how it looks like a bank with glass windows. So i took a seat and started to read my newspaper, unfortunatly my watch had stopped so my times might be a little rough. I guess i waited around 45 minutes till my number was called to go to window #... Here i was asked to submit my birth certificate, police certificate,(originals plus copies) 2 passport pictures, then he said go to the next window and pay the visa fee, i paid by card, it came to £95 plus my bank charged me an overseas transaction fee, wan"3rs. So i returned back to the friendly gentleman who was dealing with my case after i had paid the fee. I was asked to submit my Affidavit of Support evidence along with the I-134 forms, because i have the best fiance in the world, i had a TONNE of Affidavit Evidence, i was NOT there to get an RFE thats for sure, so the guy took all the papers away and told me to return to my seat, where then i will be called for the actual interview. Heart started to go a little faster when i knew i was nearly at the finishing post.
So i returned to my seat and i guess after about 20-30 minutes i was called to window #... for my interview. Here i was welcomed by a quite hyper american guy and he welcomed me by saying, Mr Parker, what is all that, laughing. Referring to my Affidavit Evidence, I said thats the evidence my beautiful fiance has prepared for me to put in order to present to you guys. He then said that he wishes alot more people was as organised as this as it would make his job a whole lot easier. It was great, the guy was really happy and it might sound cheesey but it felt as if we knew eachother, so laid back.
So after we stopped talking about the evidence, he got a little more serious, asked me for my fingerprints both hands, then asked me to put my right hand on again and then asked me to hold up my right hand and swear that the information i give will be the truth the whole truth, bla bla bla, you know how it goes, so i said yes i do. After that i was expecting him to start firing questions to me, he asked when am i going to travel, when the wedding is and he also asked whereabouts i will be going, so i told him and he said im sure i have been there because i have relatives in that area, it was great, it was more of a conversation rather that an interview. So that was it, all done, he explained what i should do with this pink piece of paper for the courier to ship back my passport, then he said congratulations and good luck with the wedding. I had a smile on my face from ear to ear, I couldnt believe it was over, i thanked him, more than once im sure, then said bye and have a good day.
So i made my way over to the couriers desk to the left as you enter the waiting area where i paid £20.10 for my passport to be mailed back to me via the special courier company they have, paid that in cash.
So that was it, Interview done and dusted.

So i guess from waking up at 6:30 that morning, i was done for 10:30am, yes thats right, done in the space of what, 2-3 hours, good going is what i say.

So that is my experience, i hope it helps, so now i am preparing for my last weekend in the good old U.K where i will have many proper pints before i go to the poop pints, haha. See you in 6 days beautiful, i cant wait.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
