Local US CIS Office Review: Las Vegas NV Review Topic: cis_topic Event Description Review Date : August 10, 2009 Embassy Review : Hello VJ's, We had our AOS interview on 8/4/09 at 7:15am for my husband(K1) and his 2 kids(K2, age 13 and 15). The interview went very well. Here's a recap of that day. We got there at 6:30am and we waited outside till USCIS was open at 7:15am along with other people also. At the door, the guard asked for ID/passport and the appt letter. We had three appt letters, one for my husband and each for the 2kids. The 2nd guard inside the room took the appt letters from us and had our bags checked. We were told to sit down and wait for our names to be called. We just sat about 5min when my husband's name was called. We all stood up and walked over to the person. He wanted to verify my husband's name and the kids names and who I was. I told the person that I was the petioner and petitioning my husband and his 2kids. We were told to have a sit and wait again. About 5min later, we were called again by the same person to verify our names, the appt date and time and who is being interviewed. At the same time I was thinking, isn't all the info on that appt letter regarding my husband's name and his 2kids and the appt date and time? Seems like they're starting there day unorganized. He then explained that he was looking for the 3rd file and we were told again to have a sit and wait. As we sat down, we were wondering whose file they couldn't find and what's going to happen if the 3rd file is not found. Well, 5min later we were called again, this time by another person and we were told to follow him inside the office and that he will be interviewing us. As we were following him to his office, I was thinking, thank God they found the 3rd file. At his office, we took oath to tell the truth. He started interviewing my husband first, going through and checking off his I-485 application...asking his name, address, city and country of birth, SS#, parent's name, kids name and all the questions on Part 3...if he committed any crimes, received any gov't assistance, engaged in espionage, etc... and he answered no to all. He also asked if he is now working. He replied yes and gave his employer's name and his position. He then asked to verify if the signature on the I-485 was his and he replied yes. Then he asked each of the kids the same questions as my husband's and going through the I-485 application also. After the kids were done, he asked my husband if they had any vaccinations done after their entry in the US. My husband gave him the sealed I-693 from the Civil Surgeon. I would like to mention regarding the I-693 because a week before our interview I decided last minute to go to a local civil surgeon and had their vaccinations transcribed to I-693. I was reading through the forums that all we needed was the DS-3025 and some say you needed the I-693 and that some civil surgeons want another medical done and charge a lot. I was getting confused what I should do. Well, I decided to go to the civil surgeon and brought along the instructions from the I-693 to show them that a medical is not needed if the AOS applications is within one year from the medical taken overseas just in case they insist a medical is needed. The civil surgeon we went to was very accomodating. Told them that all I needed was to transcribe their vaccinations from the DS-3025 and from public health records where the kids completed their shots as one of the school's requirements...to I-693 and that's all they did with no medical. My husband was missing one shot though and gave it to him. The total charge was $95.00....transcribing 3 vaccination records and 1 vaccination shot for my husband. Well, I'm glad we had the I-693 done because the IO asked for it. To continue onto the AOS interview.... After the IO looked over the I-693, he asked me how we met. Then he asked my husband if we had any proof or evidence of joint accounts. We brought originals and copies of documents that had both our names such as bank accounts, car, life and health insurance, car title, apt.lease agreement, cards from our wedding gifts with both our names, and a photo album from our wedding and other gatherings and events with family. He asked if we had any joint utility bills. Told him that the utility bills were under my name only and didn't bring it with us. Then he left the office for about 5min to make copies of some of our pictures and documents. When he came back we were overjoyed to hear him say that he approved our AOS application and that the conditional greencards will be arriving in about 4weeks. He also explained that we need to apply for permanent greencard before our 2yrs is up. Then he typed up a congratulatory letter stating all that he just said. Then he took the I-94 card from their passports and congratulated us. We left the office with smiles on our faces. The whole interview process took about 25min. I really thank visajourney and it's members for everything, for all the useful information that you've given. Without you, I'll be probably be lost on what to do. I'm glad the process and paperwork is over and the next steps won't be as hard. Harassment Level : Good
