Embassy Review : |
So I just had my interview this week and here is my review.
Since Im not from Italy I travelled there a day before the interview. My first stop was in Rome and then I had to take the Train from Roma Termini to Naples. it took me 1hr 20 minutes to get there and about another 20 mins to get to the hotel. I stayed at areamare.org , its a hostel which is situated only 5 minutes away from the consulate. It is really that close. Its supposed to be bed and breakfast but dont depend much on the bfast that the hostel offers. It's a very clean hostel though and the owner is nice and helpful. You will only need a taxi to go to the Istituto Diagnostico Varelli which is about 10 minutes away by car.
I was at the medical test at about 7.15am and I was the first one waiting. since I was first they called me at about 8.30am for blood test and then was told to go downstairs where 2 doctors were waiting with the names of all the applicants. They were checking that the applicants have all the vaccinations needed. I paid €180 there. They were very nice and well mannered. Make sure that you have all the vaccinations. Then we were called to go for Chest X-Ray and then back down to check blood pressure, a chest test and also height and weight. And that was it. they told me that if i dont hear anything till 1.30-2pm everything was fine and I can go to the consulate the day after.
At the consulate my interview was at 9am and i was there at around 8.15am. There were already other applicants that I saw at the medical test going in and after security check, where they gave me a number(Security can keep your cellphones) i was told to go up 2 floors and found other applicants waiting in a big room. I was called at the first window at about 10am so that they check papers and make sure that I had everything. A few people that were waiting with me were told to go get a different set of pictures coz the size was not right. Then I was told to pay at the cashier, which is in the same room, and then wait again for the consul to call my name. They asked me who filed the petition for me and asked me few questions about my paperwork. The consul only asked me where Im from, where I met my husband and the magic word that I got Approved!! I was out at around noon!
I was told to go to a mailbox where I could collect my passport with the visa in it and also the envelope that has to remain sealed. At the consulate they give you a map to go to this mailbox office at 5pm on that same day which is close to the consulate. €6.00 to be paid at mailbox to pick up passport and envelope.
I hope that you have a smooth journey and that this review is helpful to you all. |

So I arrived at LAX at around 6.15pm (local time) and I was out from there at around 9.15pm and there was only another plane that came in at around my same time but they were still coping with another plane that arrived before my plane.... first i had to go to the normal Visitors Line and he took my fingerprints and pictures and then i had to go to the immigration officers at the back of the airport.... and there were only 2 of them and after about an hour there there was only 1 immigration officer taking care of about 20 immigrants! there were other immigration officers that were helping after some time but they were taking their time!
There werent any questions asked though and they just wanted to get rid of the people waiting which was good for us!
I would not recommend it as a POE so if you can find another route... please do so! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
