Embassy Review : |
Just wanted to share my interview experience for all of you out there. It was really a great experience.
First of all, thank you, everyone, for all your help and information provided. I came to the embassy at around 9.10 in the morning and we were all invited (there were about 10 of us in immigrant section) to that room at 9.20. All the staff there, starting from the guards ending with the officers were very nice and friendly. I gave all my documents to the lady, she asked for what she needed. Then in about 20 minutes I was called to do my fingerprints. An hour later, I was called to the window by an officer. The interview itself lasted 2 minutes total. The officer asked me how I met my fiancee, i told him i was an exchange student and we met in high school, then he asked me which city i was in. And after that he commented on where i worked here in ukraine, because apparently he lives right next to my work. That was it. I signed the papers and received a pink slip.
So for all of you guys out there who are going through the interview in Kiev, relax. It's a fairly easy procedure. I did have all my documents very organized and i did provide a lot. The officer made a comment that i've provided more documents than he's ever seen before there.
As for the finances, I had a cosponsor and i received zero questions about it. I provided w-2 for 2008 only and didn't have the tax returns cause my cosponsor didn't file them yet. I also provided tax returns (first page of 1040) for 05. 06, 07 and i guess it was enough. I did provide a bunch of other stuff though, so maybe that counted.
In any case, I am very grateful to everyone here. VJ is so much help, as far as I can understand way more help than any attorney!
Best of luck to everyone,
Marina

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
