pretty painless - although the guy had never really done it before. so by the end two other officers came over to help and it was a party! we all laughed... waiting in line took longer than the processing itself. |

Embassy Review : |
it was great actually! i was able to call the embassy when i had questions, and the first time i called to make sure they had received the paperwork, the guard out front (who answered the main line) actually transferred me to the cell phone of one of the consular people who was away from the embassy at the time! it of course helps to identify yourself as a USC and that you're calling from the States. seems like my calls went through easier than my mongolian fiancee's, but everyone there was really pleasant to deal with.
i brought all the docs from the states and had everything in color-coded files - which of course were never asked for. i think it helped that i was there with her. the consular area is relatively small and feels like a small bank, with them separated from you by the obligatory bullet-proof glass. my fiancee was called over for finger printing, then we both were called into a small room for the interview. the USC/Consular guy was great, from NY, and asked a few questions as he was typing and working with the paperwork online, but the interview mostly had the feel of him doing paperwork while we all talked. but like i said, me being there - in mongolia, middle of december, in -20F temps - REALLY helped him understand i did love my fiancee.
interview was on a wednesday, we picked up the visa there at the embassy on friday - and we left for los angeles on sunday.
the country is beautiful, and the embassy is wonderful to deal with - good luck to all those who follow! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
