Packet 4 was not sent out when they thought it had been. The consulate found it and then sent it out at a later time. Our Packet 4 was supposed to have been sent on 2008-12-05; it was actually sent on 2008-12-23. |

You need to follow up on your correspondence and see if you starting falling outside what everyone else is experiencing. Stay in touch by email at least once every two weeks with the consulate to make sure no parts of your file get lost. If they do, they will resend them, but they do not follow up on their own. Our packet 4 was sent to the wrong address or had been forgotten (the explanation has been unclear). However, the consulate sent a packet 4 and we received it 3 weeks after it should have been delivered. We saw delivery times for most documents of 3-7 days from the consulate to the China address. If are really trying hard, and you are not getting any response, the US petitioner has congressmen that can help work through any difficulties or can find out what is wrong and what needs to be done to fix the problems in your case.
When you show up to the consulate for your interview, show up early. We saw people lining up at 5:30am for the 7:30 appointment time. The appointment time is not the time you talk to someone its the time they open up the line to let people through on a first come first serve basis. Bring as many supporting materials as possible: letters, phone records, emails, photos, travel records. These were not asked for in our interview, but we know that they were asked for in other interviews. You may find that many of the people in line have been waiting far longer than you have.
Lastly, the consulate is not a group of "bad guys." They simply want to make sure you have a *real* relationship before admitting your fiance/fiancee to the US. They have a lot of work, and a lot of responsibility. Be respectful of the consulate, especially around your fiance/fiancee. The attitude you project will be reflected in their opinion and reactions. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
