My fiancee was scheduled for her interview on Sept. 30th, but that was changed to Oct. 16th. The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta made a phone call to a family member stating that her fingerprinting and interview were re-scheduled and never called my fiancee directly or emailed her of this change.
She emailed the embassy to let them know she had received their message. We thought this was very unprofessional. When she emailed them she asked if there was anything else she needed to bring to the interview and they emailed her back confirming the dates and times and stated she needed to bring this email.
The document review went just fine, the only item she forgot was a copy of her orginal birth certificate and they said it's okay to bring when she has her fingerprinting appt. We had much confusion as what order she should present her original documents and the DS forms and evidence. The staff member simply took everything and gave her back the evidence to bring to the interview.
The CO at the interview was cordial and proceeded with easy questions that both my fiancee and I should know already; i.e. How did you meet? What service online did you meet at? Where does your fiancee live? What does he do for a living? When was the last time you were together? Where you live in the U.S?
There were no trick questions, just straight forward ones. When my fiance handed over all of the evidence to the CO, he simply scanned thru the file that was already looked at when I submitted the I-129F and didn't really concentrate too much on the evidence we had since I filed the petition. He didn't ask her to identify any of the original photos and who was in them or where they took place.
My guess is that since we had a very clean case, they already knew they were going to issue the visa. Also, one other major concern of ours was that my fiancee had applied for and was rejected for 3 previous tourist visas. However, since she answered the DS- form exactly and completely that asks about if you have ever been to the embassy and what visa did you apply for etc... this was already verified before her interview and the CO never asked her about this in the interview. We were both worried that this may affect the outcome of her getting the fiancee visa.
All in all, we really overdid the rehearsing of possible questions and she had tons of evidence from my two visits to Jakarta, so we had plenty of confidence going into the interview that we shouldn't have any problems and that's exactly the outcome. The interview was approx. 10 mins and it was so good to hear my finacee's voice when she called me after the interview, "Honey, we got the visa!!" Then much relief and laughter of joy. She was approved on Oct. 16th and she will receive her passport with the visa on Oct. 23rd.
I will simply remind everybody of the American Boy Scout motto, "Always be prepared."
