Hi Beth, I have a similar timeline to yours. Could you share what you asked your senator that helped you get your case approved? Also, how long does it take them to approve from the day you contacted your state senator? I’d really appreciate it!

I contacted the Republican Senator in my state letting them know it has been over a year. I also submitted a K3 in June. We had multiple reasons for reaching out, the main one being we are a same-sex couple that fears what the next admin could bring. We have some medical things that are happening as well.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It’s really helpful to know about the steps you’ve taken.
I wanted to ask, if you don’t mind sharing, how long it took USCIS to process your case after your senator contacted them? I’m trying to get a better idea of the timeline and what to expect.

I would say it took about 3 weeks for USCIS to get back to the aide. I got the approval notification from USCIS first and then she reached out saying she had heard back.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
