Comments : From the time the i129 left America and went to Frankfurt we stopped receiving communication from anyone. I logged in regularly and checked the status of the visa and got updates this way. When the website said our case was ready for interview he went online and scheduled. The interview was approved. He never received a packet in the paper mail we just pulled the instructions from the Frankfurt specific consulate and another member from visa journey shared with us what was in the packet. That’s why we have no dates between i129 left NVC and interview date.

At the interview my fiance was not allowed to bring his phone. He was scheduled for an 8:30am interview. He had to sit in the lobby for over 2 hours before finally being called to the window. It made no sense why they would schedule him for 8:30am to have him sit and do nothing for over 2 hours. The “interview” took 10 minutes and he was approved.

Questions asked: where will you stay? How did you meet? When is the wedding?

Because of the extremely long time he was forced to sit and wait he missed his train from Germany to the Netherlands and was denied a refund or exchange ticket because he could not cancel or modify in advance since the consulate doesn’t allow you to take anything inside. It was a stressful 3 hours of mostly sitting in a crowded loud lobby room with crying babies and no customer service. The “interview” is not personal and is done through a glass window in the lobby where everyone can hear you. Reform of the k1 process in Frankfurt is really needed. There is no reason something that informal that only actually took 10 minutes should cause someone to sit without food or access to communication for 3 hours.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
