Hey, I saw you changed your status to your case leaving the NVC! Curious if your CEAC status updated. I've been tracking DHL shipments to Joberg and saw nothing for the 21st or 22nd. But maybe you know something I don't.

My status updated from "AT NVC" to "IN TRANSIT". How do you track shipments?!? I'm totally intrigued, I LOVE tracking. ??

Wow, I can't get over how quickly your case is moving along! I'm curious whether your interview date was the soonest available, or whether there were any others sooner but you picked that date for your scheduling purposes. Luckily we went ahead and did the police cert/medical/ds-160 all in advance already, so we're just waiting for our package to arrive at the embassy and hope to do interview as soon as humanly possible.

We were fast on everything but the medicals!! Are your medicals done? If so, can you give me a rough estimate of what you paid? The earliest appointment date was actually Wednesday the 12th!! But we didn't want medicals so close and go home on administrative processing. So the next available date was the date we chose, the 26th. Hoping maybe something opens for the 19th. And there was appointments every Thursday after the 26th going forward. Only June had dates open on Wednesday. Which I found strange

Hi! My case just went i transit! Do we wait until READY to start next steps?

Oh wow that is amazing news about how soon they had interview options - fingers crossed we are the next in line after you guys! Luckily the Cape Town doctor let us schedule the medical for Jun 14 (the earliest possible date) without yet having an interview date. The cost definitely seems expensive compared to what I've seen for other countries. The estimate we got was between R8,000-12,000R (approx $430-$640 USD).

Yes..but then there were "additional" costs in the email we got sent by Cape Town medicals. I thought you already did your medicals. Guess I'll be the guinea pig!
Tae- you must wait for an email from the embassy before moving forward. We were "ready" on Thursday last week but didn't get the email until today. I've noticed it varies. Also depends on when the embassy actually receives your physical petition. Not all embassies require it but Johannesburg does
Mcase on 2024-06-04 said:
Oh I see how I phrased that it seemed like we already had done - I meant "scheduled," but not yet complete. What were the additional costs? That's so weird!

Seems xray isn't included in the cost. That will be paid at another facility afterwards. If there's drug and/or alcohol abuse history there will be additional tests/costs. Luckily we are good on that one. Then there is also a courier fee for the medicals to be sent to the embassy. I believe that's it off the top of my head
XCindyX on 2024-06-04 said:
Oh! Also additional cost for additional tests if xray is abnormal

Thank you!

Hi, another question if you don’t mind. Will the instructions tell us what is needed for the interview? As well as how to book appointments etc? This stage of the process is a bit confusing. ?
Tae_lon30 on 2024-06-06 said:
Case ready today- and I need to wait for letter. Is it a guarantee that everyone receives a letter? I was told I wouldn't get a letter until i paid the fees
XCindyX on 2024-06-06 said:
You get an instruction email from the embassy. My guess is you will get it sometime next week. Very possible to get it tomorrow but mine took about a week after the embassy received my physical petition

Okay, thanks again
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
