My fiance and I will be using the Ghana embassy. I heard that they have started make the interview dates themselves? Is that true or do you still need to look for an appointment date yourself? Thank you.

Hi Mikmel,
The U.S. Embassy Accra Visa Unit emailed me a detailed letter including the pre-screening appointment and actual interview date. They also included everything required leading up to the interview (medical, police clearance, etc). They assigned the dates, not us. My fiancé’s prescreening appointment was Nov 4, and the actual interview was Nov 25th. So be on the lookout for an email from them to the email you have on file. Let me know if you have any other questions. Best wishes!

Thank you. That is helpful.

Actually, yes, I do have another question. Did you wait to do anything until you received the email? Or maybe that came quickly after the consulate received your case? I am thinking like filling out DS 160, doing police clearance, etc.

You’re welcome. We filled out the DS 160 early on before receiving the email packet, as soon as the NVC sends your application to the local consulate is fine. If the CEAC site says “processing” or “ready”, you can fill out DS160. You can also take time to fill out the I-134 Affidavit of Support, and gather supporting documents as soon as you receive your NOA2 (Approval from USCIS).
The U.S. Embassy Accra recommended the beneficiary do the police background check and medical screening, etc at least 3 weeks before the interview. The results remain current for 6-12 months max. The embassy will give your beneficiary enough time to complete these tasks before the final interview. I’d just prepare for upcoming payments of each tasks.
This YouTube account really helped me with filling out applications and knowing what to expect for each step: https://youtube.com/@surajandyasmin?si=UxhcF8GJZz9ccWrg

Thank you. I have also used their site Suraj & Yasmin for my petition, and I have things prepared for I-134 and noticed that the police report is good for some time. Thanks again. I know every embassy is different and things change, so it is nice to hear from someone who has done it recently.

Please was visa approved same day.
Lavidafia on 2024-12-06 said:
@DeJunior No, not in my fiancé's case. He was given form 221G, and placed in administrative processing. Usually, the consulate officer would approve same day and the beneficiary would receive their passport back in 5-7 business days after interview.

Update: It was approved today! 11 days later.

Thank you and congratulations. My fiancée’s interview is coming up on January 6,2025. Any tips concerning what to expect for the interview questions?

Thank you so much!
My fiancé states it's like a natural conversation, they want to get to know you a bit so be relaxed and do share about your relationship. They asked him questions such as these: How did we meet? What work does your fiancée do? Where does your fiancée resides, "Address"? In our case, when did you get divorced and "date"? Name of your ex spouse? When did you propose? Have you had an engagement ceremony? Why did we chose to get married in the States? How Long Have You Been Together? Have You Met Each Other’s Families? Have You Ever Been Married Before? Why Do You Want to Get Married in the US? He also showed photos of us together, and of our parents meeting in Ghana as well. We provided as much evidence as we could earlier in the I-129F application. All the best in January!!

Thank you so much for the informations.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
