Embassy Review : So I had my interview on 3rd September at my appointment was set for 11am. I travelled down via train to Euston then Ubering to the Embassy. I arrived at the embassy at 10:35 believing I had a lot of spare time. The queue to get into the first building which is the security building was extremely long, they make you have your passport and DS-160 form ready for them to check. I was worried I wouldn't make my appointment time, I went to the desk at around 10:55 to clarify my appointment was 11am and she said it's fine it's all sorted by appointment time inside anyway and I wouldn't be classed as late as I was already there in line. Once you get to the front of the queue they look at your passport and DS-160 and if you are applying for a K1 visa you will get told to go to the front of the other long line waiting to go through security, which seems rude but you just have to do it.

Once you are at the door you will not be able to take any large electronics in like laptops or iPads but you can store them in your bag at the coffee shop across from the embassy. I just had a backpack which was fine and then they ask you to unlock your phone and just go onto your calender app to clarify it is working before letting you inside. Once you are inside secuity it is basically airport style security, you open your bag to be searched through and empty your pockets into the tray and then you go through the metal detector. Collect your things from the tray and then proceed up to the embassy.

You will then be inside the actual embassy where you will likely be met with another queue to give them your passport, DS-160 again and also your appointment confirmation. They will check that and then give you a sticker on your passport with a number on it that will be used to call you for your interview and dropping your documents. You will then be told where to go which is upstairs via elevator, you go left out of the elevator all the way to the end and proceed left and then left again into the waiting area and sit down. Your number will be called to a window that is numbered when they are ready (it will also show on a screen in there your number and window to go to) where first you will go up and drop off your documents. You will first drop your passport, DS-160, original birth certificate (make sure it is the long version), Police certificate and any extra information related to these forms. You will then be asked to give them your fingerprints before going back to sit down and wait for the interview part.

Once you are called to your interview part, you will be asked to take the oath and confirm that everything you are telling them is the truth and will be asked for your fingerprints again. Then it will be time for the interview. I was asked where my fiance lived and how we met. I was asked when I proposed and wether or not it was a surprise or discussed and how the proposal went. I was then asked when I last went to visit my fiance which was very recent. It was all very casual and calm, and was more like just chatting to someone who wanted to know about your relationship. They are really nice people and make it easy to talk to them. Finally after all of that I was told that everything has been approved and the courier will be in touch about the delivery of my passport and clarified the address it would be delivered to.

Overall was a lot of stress for something that actually was a very good experience and really isn't something to worry about. The people working there are very nice and easy to talk to!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
