Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada

Event Description

Embassy Review : My experience at Montreal is exactly the same as all the other detailed reviews posted on this site. So I want to thank everyone who posted theirs. I left my backpack at the hotel front desk, brought only my documents and a paperback book to pass the time. Overall I spent just shy of 2 hours at the Montreal office, 45 minutes waiting, 10 minutes document check and fingerprinting, 60 minutes waiting, 5 minutes interview.

Unfortunately after my largely painless document check and interview, they told me to fill out a DS 5535 for additional travel information and family information. So I have no idea when I could actually move to the USA or if I'll even be approved at all at this stage.

Just FYI, I have not visited any "suspicious" countries, I've lived in Canada for 30 years straight, I didn't work for any sensitive info or government agencies. I was born in China, not sure if that's what triggered the additional check.
