The Sydney Consulate claims to have emailed my fiancee the appointment letter packet on Feb 13th for an interview on Feb 24th. We never received it!!! We had to fight them in order to get a "rescheduled" appointment for March 17th. |

When we arrived, an officer directed the both of us to the non-resident line. When another officer saw that I was holding a US passport, he asked why I was in that line. I told him that it was because another officer told me to wait with my fiancee in that line since she had a K-1 visa.
He said that I should have brought her to the US citizen line with me and that he has no idea who the other officer is since he's the only one on duty. Weird.
Anyway, going to this line got us processed in about 5 minutes flat, whereas the other line was barely moving along. Everyone was nice. The POE asked only 2 questions: where she was planning on living and when we plan to get married. |

It took them a long time to send us our NOA for the I-485. They only touched our case once right before the biometrics appointment was mailed out.
We did not submit the I-693 medical form because all of the doctors we called in California wanted close to $600 (cash only) to do a FULL medical exam. They refuse to entertain even talking about transcribing the vaccination record section for $50.
Our interviewer did not even ask about it. We did not receive any RFEs on it.
She was very nice and mellow throughout the whole interview. She even explained the lifting conditions process. |

We filed this with the I-485. They sent us the biometric appointment after my wife had it for the I-485.
She never received her EAD and USCIS don't know what happened.
The interviewer was confused about it too. |

When we got to the lines, an immigration officer sent us to the visa-holder/non-resident line. When we were about 30 minutes from getting our turn, another officer way down on the other side of the US citizen line called out to me asking why I was in that line (he saw that I was holding a US Passport).
I explained that I was told by another officer to stand in that line since my fiancee is a K-1 visa holder. He said "What officer? I'm the only one watching the lines." Then he instructed us to go to a free booth at the US Citizens line. We got processed in about 5 minutes.
The POE asked only 2 questions after taking her picture and fingerprints: where my fiancee will be living and when we plan on getting married. Then he said congratulations and sent us on our way.
Once we got to customs, another officer asked what was in the box we had as checked luggage. I said that it contained clothes and shoes. He said "No problem, please proceed to your right. Thanks."
So all in all, we got our luggage and made it through immigration in about 40 minutes. It took longer to get our bags! The people were all very nice to us.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
