Hello Matthew and Sreypov,
My name is Rory. I am beginning the process of K1-Visa. I am living in Cambodia with my fiancée, who is Cambodian. I have a question or two. Hopefully, you can answer. Did you find filling out the form tricky due lack of record keeping? Did you use a lawyer for the K1-Visa? If so who did you use and what was the cost? Was it worth getting a lawyer?
Thank you,
Rory

No, we did the Visa ourselves. The K1 Visa forms took me, the sponsor a while to fill out; as they need very specific information. When it comes to address, do the best you can. Many locations in Cambodia does not use a typical address as seen in the USA. My fiancée's address was literally her Village name. I had to look up the postal code. Thankfully her family member had a Phnom Penh address that we could forward to. As far as shipping official documents, Fed EX was expensive ($235 for a 8.5" x 11" document folder) . The Embassy needs everything hand signed.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
