We could have gotten an interview date much sooner but requested one in mid-October so we both could be there. |

Processing the visa took about 15 minutes or so. Artis had to fill out another form (thanks to being refused it on the plane) but otherwise, had no problems at all with the agent. All of the paperwork from the embassy was kept, including the medical exam.
Feb 2009: After fighting with the SSA, we found out the entry in INS' database was wrong (due to OCR issues with his I-94). Border Patrol at O'Hare was able to fix it luckily. Manual verification papers should be questioned to ensure that there are no errors in the database. |

Despite some hiccups with Artis' class b medical condition, no interview was necessary and he was approved in short order. Hurrah! |

So far, we have two receipt numbers, one of which doesn't come up in the system. No one seems to think this is strange even though they use this number for everything. Odd. ... After sending the packet of updated data in again, we received an almost immediate approval. Hurray! |

Embassy Review : |
Despite the scary exterior and somewhat misleading directions to reach the right gate, things went very smoothly with the Warsaw consulate. The first interview appointment lasted about four hours, getting through security was fairly easy, and the people were very friendly and helpful. The interview the following day was straightforward, only spent about 45 minutes inside including security, and received the K-1 visa on schedule at 1500. We asked a lot of questions in email though it did take about 9 - 10 business days to receive a (usually) helpful response. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
