Interview was super quick and friendly. My appointment was at 8:45am. I was only asked the name of my spouse and what my occupation was. Over in about 10 minutes. I was told that the visa might be ready later that day. I got a call just before 12pm to tell me that it was ready and that the consulate would be closing at 12pm. Made it just in time, which was just as well because the consulate closed that day and didn't re-open until later in the year due to COVID-19. |

Biometrics in Honolulu was easy. I went early as a 'walk-in' in January and there was no problem. However, I did notice that the last time I was there they had a sign saying they no longer allow walk-ins, so this might have changed.
My I-751 interview was in combination with my N400 interview. It was super quick, maybe 10 minutes. The officer was very friendly and just asked how we meet, a few questions about family, and also how the relationship was going (did we have plans to divorce(!). Nothing to worry about even though I was nervous. |

Combination I751 and N400 interview. I received notification of the N400 interview first and then, in the mail from the Honolulu office, a notification that the I751 would be at the same time. |

Combination I751 and N400 interview. I received notification of the N400 interview first and then, in the mail from the Honolulu office, a notification that the I751 would be at the same time.
The N400 was straight-forward, going over questions in the form. I did mention a speed camera ticket I had received in NZ years earlier but this was not an issue.
The officer was very friendly. Arrived 15 minutes before the interview at 10:40am. Only had to wait about 15 minutes. The interview only took about 20/25 minutes (including both I751 and N400).
Questions asked in the civics test were:
What is the supreme law of the land?
What is freedom of religion?
There were 13 original states. Name three.
During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States?
Who did the United States fight in World War II?
Name two national U.S. holidays.
Oath ceremony was same day! I didn't know this but had hoped this would be the case since we flew from the Big Island. Ceremony is in the same building on the 4th floor. The ceremony was at 1:30pm. It was pretty short and we all got our certificates after the oath! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
