Hello! My fiance is in Quito, we plan to marry next month civilly then do our church wedding in July or August. If you have any tips for us as we start this process / journey, I would really appreciate it!

Also, if you don't mind sharing why it took so long after your wedding to apply for the i130? Seems like almost 5 months...was there a delay to receive the marriage certificate? Was your medical appointment done in Quito or Guayaquil, how was that experience? I think my fiance is nervous about that part

Hi! Congrats on your marriage, whoever’s the Ecuadorian need to go to the Registro civil and asked them to upload his/her documentation such as Partida de nacimiento, partida de matrimonio (once you’re married), and if there was any previous marriage the divorce decree, cause the Registro civil had a reset on all of the documentation. We took some time to fill in our application because I was pregnant and close to give birth so I wanted to add my baby’s birth certificate. But you can start as soon as you have your marriage certificate (that doesn’t take more than a week). My medical appointment in next week in Quito. If you have more question I can help you, give me your number.

Thank you so much for the response! Congratulations on your marriage and your little baby!! For us, our only concern is our relationship isn't that long, 8 months altogether right now. But we have lots of photos and time together in person. By the time of our interviews there will be much more history and length of relationship. Here is my number, my name is Michael from California...I have WhatsApp and FB Messenger: 562-787-0473

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
