Comments : We've been in Administrative Processing since the Interview on May 16. The only thing we know is it says "Refused" and then it says: "A U.S. consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application. Please follow any instructions provided by the consular officer. If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete. Please be advised that the processing time varies and that you will be contacted if additional information is needed. For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV or the website for the Embassy or Consulate at which you made your visa application.
For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV."

NO INSTRUCTIONS have been given, we were given no colored papers or forms, no numbered forms, no requests for additional information since the day after the interview when they asked ME for her CV (even though it is already on the original paperwork in the application), they have made NO communication to her for anything.

When asked for information on our case, they only provided copied/pasted replies that never addressed our actual questions.

On May 13, 2024, we were notified that the Administrative Processing had been completed. Because they wasted a year of our lives, her medical examination and criminal records had expired. Which we paid out of our own funds, again.

Criminal records were obtained again on June 24, medical examination was reproduced on June 25. The case has shown status updates twice since June 25, but the case status still says "Refused."

I have emailed the embassy, they claim they are waiting on the results of her medical examination, but the clinic said they've already been sent electronically.

So, we continue to wait for their "work" to be completed...

The wait is over! On July 16 she received the visa, we purchased a ticket the same day. She arrives in the USA for the first time ever today, July 17.

we are so excited to begin our lives together and encourage everyone struggling with the immigration process to hold on and be patient. It shouldn't have to be so difficult, but your relationship is worth the wait. Don't give up!

Consulate Review: Madrid, Spain

Event Description

Embassy Review : Overall it was a great experience. The employees were very helpful and compassionate. We arrived at 9:30 for our 10am interview. They took our papers around 10:30, then we waited for our interview and were all finished around 11:30 am. In the interview itself, the primary questions were in regards to how we met and basic individual identification questions.
Rating : Good

Congrats on the quick approval! Did you do direct consular filing? Or was there another reason you think you received the I-130 so quickly?

Thank you! We petitioned for an expedited processing with both the USCIS and the NVC. They accepted our needs and moved us forward. It’s very rare, but our situation is too.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
