Consulate Review: Morocco
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 14, 2023
Embassy Review : Our interview was set for 11/28/23 at 8 am. We arrived just after 7 and there were already 5 people waiting in line, so, advise you to go early. The process was completed by 930 am, for us. (Leaving the building at 930)

After going through the normal security process and waiting to be called (by your name), you go to one desk where a person sorts your documents. Then you go to wait a while again. There are two options there, for those speaking Arabic and those speaking English. You get a very nice man if you are speaking Arabic, but my husband chose English, and you get the very stern woman officer who is a bit infamous for .... her stern demeanor. Anyway. the interview itself was around 5-10 minutes. She asked questions about where we met, what I (the petitioner) do for work, specifics about my work, and about our wedding, ie, how many people were there, what was it like.... etc. She took our evidence documents away to be reviewed by another person. TAKE PHOTOS with you. Some people say they don't have time to look at your stuff, but on this day they did!
She returned to the interview area and began typing for a very long time. They she said You are approved.

Still waiting at NVC.... 2 sets of problems means even if they are corrected immediately, it takes them 2-3 weeks to look again. Waiting now for the third look at our documents. These are not just typos or oversteps- but trying to meet requirements with all the required paperwork, adding a joint sponsor etc. Praying. Only God.

Did you expedite your case? We submitted from Morocco on September 24th, 2022 and still no approval for I-130!
blank avatar Brassa on 2023-06-15 said:
Hi Salima, No, we did not expedite. We just filed the normal route, but I am located in the US, and filed here. USCIS took maybe six months to approve the I 130, and this was at the California Service center, I believe. There was no 'back and forth' with USCIS on the documents. No contact from them... only waiting and checking on the site. On approval, they then sent it to the NVC and this is where it's been since April. I wish you good luck at USCIS and hope you get a favorable answer from them soon!

My apologies I meant to write we submitted from USA for Morocco since my husband is Moroccan, I am trying to figure out why my I-130 approval is taking so long. Its been almost 9 months with no response. We filled all documents and evidence of bonafide marriage. Congratulations on at least getting to the NVC stage, I heard it's a faster process than USCIS.

Hey there, hope you're doing well, Wanted to know if there is any news about your case, did you get yiur interview letter?
blank avatar Brassa on 2023-08-30 said:
Hi Mimi and Abdel, I haven't heard a peep yet! But I have my fingers crossed that we will hear something in September. That kind of puts us in the timeline that everyone else has been reporting. But for sure, I will post an update when we get it.

Wow, I'm at the same stage as you guys, recently had my I-130 approved and paid and submitted paperwork with joint sponsor immediately, waiting for review of my paperwork from NVC and appointment interview. I thought because you guys received I-130 approvals sooner you would have been approved by now? Are appointments not being doled out by a first filed first serve basis or is it based on a priority date basis?

Best of luck Brassa, we're all hoping for the best in this waiting game.

Hey Salima, Offically its first filled first served, but no one really knows how its really done. All i know that it takes between 2 and 4 months to get the interview letter

I signed up to a few different forums. At first when I was looking, I was expecting the consulate to respond within 30 days of DQ. But after that didn't happen, I started searching and searching and found that the average time was about 2 months- like Mimi mentioned, but as time goes on, the wait seemed to get longer and from what people are saying in some forums and groups now, it's taking 3+ months to get the interview letter itself.... and they are dated for 3 week out to 2+ months out on average. I am not sure if the Priority date comes in to play for CR1 as much as K1 Fiance visas. I really don't know... Of if they go by DQ date? I just know it's a heck of a lot longer than I was anticipating originally when going through USCIS. I am only praying we are in the home stretch of this.

Omg Brassa still no interview letter? My hope is waning. We just got DQ'd by NVC 2 days ago and now I am trying to find how long until interview letter :( Were you able to find out if Priority date (PD) comes into play for the CR1? I was wondering the same thing. I talked to a girl on reddit that had PD of January 2022 and she's been DQ'd since June 6, 2023 for Casablanca, Morocco with no interview letter!

Hi Salima, Congrats on the DQ!! It's a big step!! Now just waiting on the interview letter.... From what I have been seeing in other forums, people from May were just getting theirs. I haven't seen any DQ from June get a letter. But I think any day now, a new batch is due. That last group of letters went out toward the end of August, and they were scheduling for October dates. This is what I have heard so far, please let me know if you hear anything different!! I'm keeping my eyes on it as much as possible. Obsessed like a soap opera! lol

I feel you Brassa ? I asked NVC through their inquiry on wait times at Casablanca, Morocco, and this is what they responded with: “ The U.S. Embassy or Consulate provides the National Visa Center (NVC) with a list of available appointment dates and times. We will schedule your case for an interview appointment when an appointment date is available. We schedule appointments on a first in, first out basis. After we schedule your appointment, we will forward your case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in CASABLANCA. We cannot predict how long it will take to schedule your appointment, but we will notify the applicant, the petitioner, and your attorney (if applicable) when an appointment is scheduled. Your case will stay at NVC until that time.” So I guess they themselves don’t know ?

I didn’t mean to insert (?) I was trying to put in emojis :’) thank you for the update of timeline so at least we have a timeframe in mind!

Yes yes of course. It's an anxious thing we're feeling, life halting! I was planning to go back to Morocco to visit, but we got our DQ... My husband said wait- he will be coming to me soon.... but haha... not as fast as we thought. Even the traveldoc. gov website says it should take only 1 month for Casablanca to issue an interview letter... Now after all this time waiting, not knowing, he tells me to just come there. He says lets forget about the NVC and consulate and live our life the best we can. So, I'm going back there asap. I can wait here or we can wait there. Lhmdullilah.

Haha that’s funny your husband said that because mine said the same thing! The process is so damn slow :,( Luckily he doesn’t live in the village, and lives in Casablanca so it’s easy for him to go to the consulate. I tried to get him to come to US on a visitors visa but they denied it :( the officer said they do give out tourist visa’s while there’s a pending immigration case to 1st world countries like Germany or UK but because he’s from Morocco he would be considered a “flight risk” despite all the evidence we acquired to prove his return back to Morocco :(

Congratulations on the visa! Alhamdillilah, and inshallah many more happy years to come. We’ve been DQ’d almost 3 months now and I was curious when did you receive your interview date? Is it the end of every month that they issue Interviews, or the beginning of the new month. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you so much!! It's been a long waiting game, but finally we got to the end and my husband will be here in a couple weeks inchaAllah. We got our letter at the end of Sept, and from what I understand, the letters typically come at the end of each month- the last week of the month... We were DQ'd at the end of June, so ... just about three months of waiting from our DQ date until the letter showed up, and the letter put our interview a further two months out- the end of Nov. I was impatient a lot, and arranged to travel to Morocco anyway, before our letter arrived... but just as luck would have it, I booked travel over the time of the interview, so I was able to go with him to the consulate. It was a good experience for me to be there. I could not go in to the actual interview... but I waited at the cafe on the corner. Then I walked down to the consulate after an hour and a half... and waited for him to come out. Your letter should come any time now, I would guess.... it's been about three months for people recently! Taking 4-6m from DQ to interview. Good luck!! I am following your progress!!

Thank you for the well wishes! I just came to Morroco to reunite with my husband since it’s been over 6 months since I’ve seen him. We’re enjoying the travel in Ifran right now and I hope to get the interview letter soon. Thank you for all the information you’ve provided me with, I’m so impatient for my husband to join me in the US so we can begin to build our life together.
