Consulate Review: Ireland
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 28, 2023
Embassy Review : The lead-up to the interview was plagued by misinformation, resulting in double payments that were never reimbursed. I received inaccurate information during my medical examination, leading to the need for clarification. However, contacting the embassy proved nearly impossible, as calls directed me to a call center with non-English-speaking personnel who were unfamiliar with the K1 visa process. Emails went unanswered, and there were inconsistencies in communication among fellow K1 visa applicants I spoke with. This aspect of the experience requires significant improvement. Shout out to Lalaloopsy for their assistance during the times when the Consulate's support was lacking.

My K1 visa interview at the US Consulate in Dublin was an eventful experience, marked by rainy weather and a lengthy wait in line. I met another applicant, and together, we navigated the process. After passing through security, a staff member meticulously reviewed my documents, followed by a two-hour wait. The interview had a blend of formality and informality, with standard questions delivered in a manner that seemed designed to apply pressure.

Following the interview, I was instructed to wait and later informed that my visa had been approved. Total time was around 3 hours. The overall experience at the embassy on the interview day was acceptable, but the poor communication throughout the process leads me to rate it only a 2 out of 5.
Rating : Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
