Hey we have a very similar timeline. My fiance is having the interview in bogata she is from Venezuela the consulate recieved our case but we need to wait for the letter from the consulate before scheduling the interview. Have you already recieved the letter from the consulate?

No, we haven’t received packet. For what I’ve read in bogota embassy you don’t need to have the packet to schedule and interview. What I did was sent and email to embassy explaining that case was received and will like to know how to proceed input my case number and I filled the DS 160 which is needed to create the appt. The appt. Date gives us enough time to receive the packet.

Can you send me the link where it says that because the nvc gave me this message for K visa applicants: K Visa Applicants: Please be advised that you must wait for the Packet of Instructions from the Embassy prior to scheduling your appointment. Although your case could appear Ready when you are checking the status in this platform, if you are applying for a K1 (fiancée visa) you need to wait for instructions from the Embassy to continue with the process. As soon as we receive the file from NVC, the Immigrant Visas Unit will send you notification that your case is ready for an interview and include instructions on the next steps. If you schedule an interview without authorization from the Embassy, your appointment will be canceled as we will not be ready to receive you. For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV

I never received that from the NVC, maybe your case is different because she is from Venezuela. I saw it here in visa journey forum. From a case that got their interview in March. If you got that letter you should wait.

I didn't get the letter but when checking the case number on https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx It said not to book it. It says ready when I use my case number but when I read all the text below it says k applicants need to wait until they receive a letter. It may be because she isn't from columbia. If you put your case number at the nvc tracker and it doesn't say that you're probably good to go.

For my understanding those are generic messages. Every consulate works different, some are much more strict than others. For my understanding the Colombian embassy are not as strict. when scheduling the appt. We tried two times. On the first intent we tried and it stated case not ready for appt. On the next day we tried again and it went through. One thing is for sure you need to have your DS-160. Try it, see what happens.

Hey I saw your message on the other feed my understanding Is if the documents are in english or the language of the country the embassy is in they do not need to be translated. However they will need to be translated to english for the birth certificate

How'd your interview go? Do you have any recommendations?
Ginna Jaramillo on 2023-05-21 said:
Hello, unfortunately ours when into administrative processing review. We are still trying to figure what went wrong. The consul don’t say much they only gave my fiancé a white slip with his passport and asked to fill the DS-5535. Our lawyer states they want an extensive background check and I am worried that it might have been denied. The lawyer states that it is not, I hope he is right. Best of luck. This is very stressful

Sorry to hear that. Ours is on June 8th. I was wondering how yours went. Not good it sounds. If it went into administrative process review that is something that can be corrected with paperwork. A complete denial is the one that can't be appealed. This one your lawyer should be able to correct. Good luck....

Sorry to hear that... It's surprising the lawyer didn't catch it before the interview.

Thank you for your help during our process. Hopefully your case gets approved soon. Read the comments on our page as to the outcome of our case. Life moves on. I would never accept a 13 year old running my life. I wished them the best of luck.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
