Thank you for sharing your experiences at the ambassy .... did you translate your birth certificate from French to English?
Regards
Aavj on 2024-01-24 said:
No need to translate documents in French.
Aavj on 2024-01-24 said:
this a quote from US embassy website : "For each document (with the exception of your passport and photograph), please present the original, one photocopy, and a certified translation for any document in languages other than English or French."

Thanks for sharing your experience! Did the lady at the counter ask for the original and copy of the marriage certificate? Did she keep them?
Aavj on 2024-01-25 said:
You're welcome.
Yes, the lady at the first counter asked for original documents. She placed all the collected documents, passport, and the photo in a 'file jacket,' which she then passed to the Consular Officer. During the interview, the CO read/checked the documents in the file jacket. At the end, the CO returned my original marriage certificate and my birth certificate to me. She kept the original police certificates.
And If I correctly understand what I was told by the lady at the first counter, they will give me back all the documents and the photo along with my passport.

Summary of the last steps:
- 01/17/2024 morning: Interview - the CO said she will approve the visa
- 01/17/2024 afternoon: CEAC status changed from "Ready" to "Administrative Processing"
- 01/22/2024: CEAC status changed from "Administrative Processing" to "Issued"
- 02/01/2024: Received "visa ready for pick-up" email and went the same day to the pickup location (MBE located near metro Balard) and got my passport (it was done in 2 min).

Congratulations for your visa ....I notice that it takes 2 weeks to get your visa in your passport, I thought it was quicker than that...
I wish you a good life in USA
Aavj on 2024-02-01 said:
Thank you. Yes, the CO told me that I would get my visa back in 2 weeks, so she was right. I don't know if the option to have it delivered home (which costs 23€) would have made it arrive sooner, or if it's just the embassy that has a big backlog. Anyway, it's worth waiting for :) I wish you good luck with your interview and likewise, a happy life in the US

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
** Not all cases are transfered
