How was your interview? Did you have it in Almaty, Kazakhstan? Would you mind to tell a little bit about questions that they asked you? Thank you in advance!

This was the interview for my wife and stepdaughter, I am the US Citizen petitioner. My wife said it was good. They did have it in Almaty, the consulate did not need most the document she had brought to the interview because they had them from the NVC process. But it is still good to bring all the documents in case they need something...I had not sent her my original Divorce Decree, so I had to mail this to the consulate today. They only asked my wife how we met, what I do for a living, if we had been married previously or first marriage and if she lived in another country before, and if my wife spoke English. After that he said that they were approved and they would hold onto my wife and stepdaughters passports until they received my previous divorce documents. The consulate should receive these Monday next week and then they said it would only take them 2-3 days to finish the visa and return everything.

They received my divorce decree on January 31st and had the visa processed and placed in my wife and stepdaughter’s passports by the end of the day February 1st. My wife picked up all the documents on February 2nd and is currently catching a flight to the USA (February 3rd) So overall this Consulate was great and worked quickly!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
