Event Description
Review Date : February 4, 2009
Embassy Review : Our interview experience was satisfactory in all respects. Prior to the interview, we stayed at the Tropicana Hotel in Malate, our home away from home in Manila.

Our scheduled interview reporting time was 0700. We arrived at the US Embassy at approximately 0630. The queue to enter the facility was well-organized. Carla was called for preliminary screening at about 0815. At this time, Carla was asked by a Filipino screening officer how and where we met, how many times I visited her, whether I had been married before, whether I had children, whether my parents were still alive, about my siblings, whether she had been involved in other relationships, and whether I treated her well. Carla was well prepared and was able to establish rapport with the inteviewer.

About 30 minutes later, we spoke to a consular officer. Overall, he was very courteous. After establsihing my identity, he questioned me about details of my divorce. After explaining these to his apparent satisfaction, he asked about my current and previous work history. After learning of my Navy background, the ice was broken with the ex-Seebee. He seemed satisfied with Carla's background information and only asked her to verify her identity. The actual interview took less than 10 minutes.

After the interview, we waited for about 30 minutes to receive Carla's documents, pink slip and Delbros delivery docket. We were out of the Embassy by 0945. To celebrate, we had a late breakfast at the Intercontential Hotel buffet.

Waiting for delivery of the visa was probably the most frustrating part of the process, as the actucal final processing and delivery time seems to vary from case to case. We learned how to follow-up and after calling a few times, the visa arrived with Carla within a few weeks.

Overall, I thought the process was well managed by all concerned. Everything was accomplished within published delivery of service timelines. Carla was well prepared and did a great job at the preliminary interivew. I am so proud of her.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
