Event Description
Review Date : April 1, 2024
Embassy Review : I am filling out this on behalf of my wife (fiance at the time of the interview) who interviewed for the Fiancee Visa at the US Embassy in Addis Ababa. The appointment was very early in the morning around 7am, and she arrived an hour beforehand. She brought her DS-160 confirmation, proof of visa payment, interview confirmation with instructions, birth certificate, police report, sealed medical examination and two passport sized photos. She also brought some additional photos of the two of us, my tax returns for the past three years and the original I-129F package. I recall that we did not need some of these documents, but I would recommend doing your own research and bringing more than what is needed, just in case.

They gave her the option to speak in Amharic or English. She spoke both languages but was more comfortable with Amharic. They asked her about how she met me, about when we got engaged and about our wedding here in the states (location, date, etc...). They also asked about her employment and my employment. The interview was only 15 minutes.

They took her passport that day. About two weeks later, my wife got a call to pick up her passport (with the passport and sealed documents) from our chosen government post office.
Rating : Moderate

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
