Comments : Our process went very smoothly, we didn't have any complications whatsoever. We went on April 16th for a revision of documents at the consulate, expect to be there most of the day. On the 17th we had the appointment at 6:30 am, we got at the consulate a 5:00 because you have to get in line and the lines are very long. My husband went in at 7:00 am, petitioners have to wait outside. By 11:30 he got out with his approval and went to the bridge the consulate told us to, the immigration officers stamped the visa in about 5 minutes. We're glad we're done.

Consulate Review: Juarez, Mexico
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 18, 2008
Embassy Review : My husband and myself got our appointment at the US Consulate in Juarez, Mexico on April 17th. It's a must that you have to go the day before so people at the consulate can check your documents. This is good because if you are missing something they will tell you and you will have an extra day to get it. They will ask you for the physical exam, tax forms and mexican passport. By the way, regarding the physical exams take extra money because the shots are really expensive. I was talking to a family of 3 while waiting with my husband in line to enter the consulate and they told me that they had paid about $1000 dollars for the 3 physicals. Even my husband paid $350 for his physical and 3 shots. Anyways, after they take the documents from you then they will give you a pass for the appointment the day after. The day of the appointment you have to go early because the lines get very long. The petitioner always stays outside, so if you're thinking on wearing heels girls please don't because the wait is REALLY long...Also be careful outside, there's a lot of people trying to get money out from you, especially the taxi drivers. The taxis range from $5 to $120 dollars the ride, depending where you are headed. So if you can, I strongly suggest to rent a car and ask for directions. Please don't believe what people tell you outside of the consulate, if you have questions please go to one of the officers outside and they will give you the right directions. Another suggestion is that if you plan to stay in a hotel (unless you have relatives in Juarez) I suggest that you stay in a hotel far from the consulate, they tend to be cheaper than the ones in front. Luckily for us, we had relatives and we stayed with them. The good news came really early to us, my husband was approved at around 11:30 am on the 17th of April, 2008 (yes, that's today). One thing I notice is that the consulate officials were giving a lot of waiver forms to people who had lived illegally in the US, so be prepared in case you have to fill out a waiver form because I think it's like $545 dollars. Finally, I wish good luck to everyone who is starting this long process and to those who will be heading to the consulate pretty soon.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
