Consulate Review: Frankfurt, Germany
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 17, 2008
Embassy Review : Writing this for my fiancee, based on what she told me.

Frankfurt is really easy. She had an appointment on the 10th of June, at 8:00. She got there at 7:30 and was pretty much let right in. After the security checks, and being issued a number, she went in to the room with all of the windows. The first two windows were easy and she said the people were very nice. She was really nervous as she went to the third window for her interview with the consular official.

He basically peppered her with questions over and over again, asking her the same questions two or three times without even really bothering to listen to her responses. After he felt she was sufficiently interrogated, he said "Ok, if everything is ok with your medical, you'll get your package in the mail in 7-10 working days."

She had her medical done the week before in Hamburg, so that was no problem. She got her visa in the mail today 7 days from her interview, total, including a weekend.

Aside from her being really nervous (but that's not the consulate's fault, really), the whole process was relatively quick and painless, aside from our own general worries that waiting causes.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Memphis
Event Description
Entry Date : 2008-07-03
Embassy Review : Entered MEM at 4:45 in the afternoon. The customs area is quite small, as I think the only international flights are from Amsterdam. Anyway, after asking a customs officer which line we could wait in together, she just opened a new counter for the both of us, processed us (fingerprints and photo for my fiancee), and gave her passport and sealed packet to another officer who led us to a waiting room. He asked us to take a seat and he went into a back room. We waited for about 10 minutes, listening to the sounds of stamps and staples from behind the door (we took that as a good sign). He came out with her passport, told us we had 90 days to get married and wished us congratulations. The whole process took maybe 15 to 20 minutes total. Completely painless.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
