The POE Chicago was smooth. I already filled the I-94 and Customs form in flight itself. Then I submitted I-94 to the Immigration guy at Chicago. I was asked only one question "Why am I here in US?" to which I replied that I am on K1. Then he opened the documents did some checking. Then took my finger prints and said "thanks. You are done".

I got VISA!!!!! It was on 6th March. I went in at 8:30 AM First my Interview later was taken over by one guy and given to the IV unit counter. The person at counter called me after some time and then ran through my application and all the documents. He then said that he didn't accept my date of birth affidavit and asked me to produce some other secondary proof. Luckily I had my driving license original but it was at Hotel room. I requested the gentlemen and he gave me a re-entry slip. I then rushed to my hotel room, got the driving license, came back to consulate IV unit and handed over it to him. After half-an hour came the turn for taking fingerprints. Then after two hours an young american lady took the interview. She asked the following questions after taking an oath of truthfulness:
1) how I met my fiancee.
2) what's my brother doing in US
3) my occupation and that of my fiancee
4) dates of my first marriage and divorce... and that of my fiancee
5) how many kids do I have and so do my fiancee from first marriage
6) what's their age
7) when did my fiancee come to India
8) did we have any engagement like function
9) where I am presently working
10) why don't I move to US by requesting my company (MNC)
11) why do I want to get married in US
12) why did I do MCA after my MA
13) did my family and their family approve of this relation
14) does my fiancee's kid know me
15) why didn't my fiancee visit India in last five years
16) when did our relation start and when did it take a serious turn
17) will I marry once I am in US
Then she said that the visa is approved and I should be getting the passport soon. I requested for collection at VFS by day's end but she refused saying that the policy is not to give the passport on the day of interview. She requested me to contact VFS on when I will get the passport. Also she gave some briefing on what I can do and I cann't in US on this visa.
Of the total of ten IV applications (2 each of IR/CR, K1, K3 etc.) 5 received green slip that day and five got through!!!!! I was the last but one to go. I finally came out by 13:30 HRS
I am glad that it is over. People going through Chennai K1 have to remember
1) Take your 10th class marksheet or Inter marksheet as secondary proof of date of birth (original and photocopy)
2) You won't be getting the passport on the day of interview
3) X-Ray is not required
4) you cannot take waterbottle or Cell phones inside
5) letter of intent is not required

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
