My husband went for his interview this morning knowing that his case would be placed in administrative review. His medical exam was flagged because of a spot that showed up on his chest x-ray. He was sent to do a 3-day sputum test that will take 8 weeks to get results. The doctor told him to go to his interview as scheduled and they will approve his visa pending the results of the sputum test in 8 weeks. He was told the same thing at his interview - they kept his passport and said as soon as the doctor signs off on the medical, he will get his visa.
My husband's medical review was complete on September 1, 2023 and it was sent to the embassy on that date. After sending numerous inquiries to the embassy (which I only received computer-generated responses), on September 12, 2023 I reached out to my congresswoman to send an email on my behalf to the embassy. She received a response the same day that said our visa was approved and it would be printed asap. Our status on CEAC changed to Administrative Processing on September 13, 2023 and then to Issued on September 14, 2023. |

Embassy Review : |
My husband showed up at 6:30am for his 7am interview. They had him organize all of his paperwork and they told him our marriage certificate was not valid because it didn't have a raised seal on it. My husband told them it was the original the notary gave us when we got married but was told that the consulate officer would have to decide if it was sufficient or not. It took a long time for him to get called. The officer was an American guy who barely spoke Spanish. My husband had to keep asking him to repeat himself because he was very hard to understand. He approved our marriage certificate. He asked my husband how we met, how many times did I travel to Colombia in 2021 and 2022, if I speak Spanish and if so, how did I become fluent, did he have pictures showing us together during my trips (he did - I gave him a small photo album of pictures). He looked at the pictures and told him his visa was approved pending the embassy doctor approving his medical (he had an issue with his chest x-ray and sent him for more tests to rule out tuberculosis). His case is in administrative review until then (they estimate 8 weeks) but they kept his passport and told him as soon as the results come back and the doctor signs off, he'll get his visa. The whole process lasted about 3 hours but he said it was really busy and lots of interviews going on (probably because of the July 4th holiday). |

Timeline Comments: 1Congrats on your I-130 approval
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
