Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 20, 2023
Embassy Review : Appointment was Sept 18th 2023.
A few weeks ago I got an email with a different appointment time, so this morning I went at the first appointment time and asked which one I should attend since I didn't want to miss it! The guard at the door said come back at 1045 which was the time in the most recent interview update. I grabbed breakfast and went back to the hotel to chill.

At 1045 I was back at the consulate and checked in. The guy at the door checks you off a list, you go through the door and a person immediately to the right checks your passport, gives you a ticket with your appointment number on it and then you go through security and put your phone in a tiny locker and then go up the elevator.

Once there I was immediately called into a room and asked for:

My birth certificate
Marriage certificate
My husband's 2022 taxes
My RCMP check
Passport Photo
Passport
(I had a folder of 20 other things so I was surprised that's all he wanted)

They asked about my address, my husband's address, phone number, where I would be living. And then had me sit back down and wait for the interview.

About 20 mins later I was called to a different portal with a different person who asked:
My husband's full name
How we met
What our wedding was like
What my husband does for work

After that, she told me her system was down but she intends to set me for approval and I should have my stuff back in 2-3 weeks. I was there for less than an hour, I was surprised at how quick it was! The next day I flew back home, and on arrival I had two messages on my phone saying my passport was being sent back to me and a tracking number. When I looked up my status, it said issued.
Rating : Very Good

Did you expedite? Did you send K3 ? And did approval came from Potomac or NBC or other centers ? This gives so much hope :) congratulations!!

No expedite, filed a K3 in September about a month after we filed the i-130. I had not checked the file after December and it had not moved from Potomac before that, I don't know if it moved since but I will update if I see anything on documentation saying it transferred after that though!

Thank you for your reply, appreciated! If you have online account with USCIS you can check approval pdf and at the bottom it will have service center that will show where the approval came from. The reason I am curious because have not seen any approval this quick from Potomac yet.

Actually just logged into the account and I guess it was transferred to California at some point, the bit at the bottom says Laguna Niguel. Updating my timeline to show this as well.

Mine is at Potomac filed on December 10 and K3 after a week later. I have been tracking Potomac TAT and mostly they are 12 month behind… long wait 😒

Sorry to get your hopes up :( I hope you get processed soon, the wait sucks so much.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
