Consulate Review: Jamaica
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 7, 2008
Embassy Review : May 20, 2008

Our interview was scheduled for 7:30 am. Please get to the embassy by 5:30 am because the lines are long. We did not get there until 6:15. The security guard opened the doors around 6:40am. We ended up number 8 becuase my fiancee went to ask a question but he was told to go in after showing his letter.

Please, make sure not to bring electronic devices, lotions, lip gloss, etc. Look at embassy restrictions because they were threatning to cancel your interview if you had any of those items.

We were given instructions about having your forms in order. Don't forget your duplicates. Some people were told they would have to be rescheduled because they didn't have them. We were actually in the embassy at 7:00 am.

Window A
Young American lady in training asked for all paperwork. We turned in a new DS 230 Part 1 because my fiance's children were not listed on the original petition or the DS 230 we turned in for the interview to be scheduled. I was a little nervous about this. I asked the lady about the photos if everything had to be alike because their are guys outside taking photos. (We took them because they said we would be asked to get different photos because they we different). We had some left over from different applications. She told us it did not matter. She checked off the papers on her list as she went through them. Then she asked if we had diff. photos becuase they were different. I couldn't believe it. I gave her what we had. The shirts were the same color, that's why they were accepted. Please have 6 COLOR PHOTOS THE SAME. Nothing was said about any of the forms (diff DS 230, no fathers name on b/c) Window A actually took the longest. We waited about 30 minutes. No problem except for the photos. The young lady was very nice.

Window B
Fingerprints no issues.

Window C
Actual interview area. We waited about 15 minutes. Some people were denied because of not having documents. Our number was called and we proceeded to window 17(young female officer). I was asked who I was and could she see my passport. We raised our hands to tell the truth. She then asked me to have a seat while she interviewed Marvin. I started sweating but had no choice. I sat 5 seats away so she couldn't see me. All of sudden, I heard all of this loud talking. I got scared and moved closer. To my relief, it was not Marvin but the lady next to him. He was actually talking into the phone so you could not hear anything. He then sat down and told me to go to the window. She asked very generic questions
1. Did I meet his family?
2. How many children does he have? Do I have any?
3. When did I come to JA? Who picked me up?
4. Have we been out to eat?

That's it. Called Marvin back to the window. Told congrats and go to Airpak. The actual interview took 10 minutes and we were out of the embassy by 8:15am
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
