My CR1 interview on January 23, 2024 was easy. I must say, I have a very solid case. My USC wife has been living in the Netherlands for over 9 years and we have known each other for 8 years. Been living together for 4 years and have a child together.
I was in and out in around 75 minutes, mostly waiting between conversations. My appointment was at 8am with 6 others. We were called one by one to a window and that woman checked our original civil documents + passport. Then we had to wait again for the interview. After taking an oath, the officer askes me questions such as:
- Has either of you been married before?
- How long have you known your wife?
- Where does she live?
- What is her job?
- Where are you going to live in the US and why?
- What is your occupation?
Congrats, excellent case. Your visa is approved.
I asked her about the fact that NVC changed my last name (I applied with my married name. I am using my wifes last name). She said she couldn't do anything and had to contact USCIS for that.
Now waiting for my passport to return. |

Made a translation and uploaded everything. Now in doubt if uploading was the way to go. The letter did not mention anything about either mailing or uploading.

Hello,
Do you mind if I ask if you purposefully delayed your appointment scheduling or if that is the actual timeline for the consulate in Amsterdam? Trying to understand timelines.
Thank you
Mapi on 2024-01-23 said: Hi, the above message tell you exactly what you need to know! I delayed it on purpose due to a newborn.
Was approved on the spot today with no hassle. Only asked for my civil originals
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
