Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom

Event Description
Review Date : February 10, 2023
Embassy Review : I had my interview in London on the 9th of February. It was actually very straight forward and only took about 10 minutes. The interviewer asked a couple of questions like when and where I met my husband and checked my documents and then I was told that I was successful.
The most stressful part of it I found was outside trying to get into the building. Everyone on this forum mentions that you do not have to queue in the long non-immigrant visa line, which is absolutely correct. However not all of the staff outside of the building are aware of this. Unfortunately when I went to the front of the queue and told them I was there for a immigrant green card interview, they said I had to queue with everyone else. I did this and then after a while decided to ask someone else as it felt wrong. They also told me to stand in the same line. About ten minutes later someone went along the line telling everyone to have their passports and DS160’s to hand for checking. I told them I had a DS260 not a 160 and they told me that I shouldn’t be in that line and can go to the front. The problem with that is about 150 people then give you the look that you are jumping the line!!. They really should have a immigrant and non immigrant line out front.
Anyway I’m so happy that this is finally over now, it’s been a long emotion ride. Looking forward to getting my passport returned and entering the US in March 🤞🏻. Good luck to everyone 🇺🇸

I have just got our I-130 Approved...i was wondering how long did it took for your NVC welcome email to arrive? I am in UK and obviously have to do interview as well...what were the questions they asked you if you don't mind answering me...i am Bulgarian Citizen my wife is American Citizen. We are excited to start our live together as one big family with her and my step sons (which i plan to adopt) but yeah any help will be highly appreciated. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and good luck with everything.

Hi Congratulations on getting your approval. 🥳. It took about 3-4 days after approval for the USCIS to pass my file onto the NVC. Then a couple more days before getting the welcome letter. Once the welcome letter has arrived you have to pay some fees and then once that has registered - another couple of days you can begin to upload your DS260 and documents. I was approved on 14/11/2022 and my docs to NVC were all uploaded on 28/11/2022 - so this whole part of the process took 2 weeks. I was very lucky because I was DQ’d on December 30th which was only 1 month later. My interview letter was sent out on 16/01/‘23 for interview on 9/2/‘23- I was again very lucky. The interview was very relaxed and quick. They asked me where I met my husband and how long we had been married and where about in the US we were going to live. To be honest it was more like a general conversation rather than them testing me, I actually enjoyed it!. The person who calls you to the first window checks your documents and does finger prints and asks a couple of questions like have you lived in any other countries and when are you planning on travelling to the US. Then about 15 minutes later I was called to the 2nd window for the interview. More finger prints and a quick chat, lasted 5 mins and then told that I had passed and that my visa would be issued and sent back within 10 days. You have done the worst of it it, the next part will go quickly and you will be reunited with your family in a few months. I wish you all the luck and very best wishes. Thank you 😊

Wow thank you so much for all that information it really means a lot to me to find all that information and i can be able to pass it to my wife as well so she doesn't have to worry about anything as we are both a bit anxious but we got this. Thank you and good luck with you and your family. Happy living in Usa.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
