Consulate Review: Morocco Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Event Description Review Date : February 14, 2024 Embassy Review : Interview at the US Embassy of Casablanca, Morocco. I am US citizen and was petitioner for my Moroccan spouse, consular processing. Interview Date: February 13, 2023 (02/13/2023) at 7:30 am. We prepared a file with all necessary documents, two books thick. I think we were over prepared. Woke up 5 am, and arrived at 6 am. We sat at the cafe until a Moroccan security guard at the US embassy of Casablanca told all people to line up and wait. I asked if I could go in as I am US spouse and petitioner for the CR-1 visa and read online that most embassies lets spouses attend for the CR-1 interview but I wasn't permitted to go inside, which I suspected. My husband went in and was first in line. Went through a scanner where they locked his phone in a cabinet with a number for retrieval. Went to a front desk with a Moroccan agent, he had his biometrics taken, then handed over his documents such as passport, birth certificate, background check (court record), and police record. He was in turn handed 3 paperworks of how to apply for a social security number, how to use Aramex registration for visa passport pick up, and a pamphlet in Arabic of US laws (what to do in case of abuse, etc). He was asked to step aside and if he wanted to conduct the interview with an Arabic or English speaker. My husband asked for an English speaker. He told me the approvals felt almost pre-determined because some people didn't get handed the paperwork he did and when they asked for it they were told they wouldn't receive any. He was called up to conduct his interview with an American woman in her 40's and she was amicable. Interview was done in less than10 minutes. She didn't look at pictures of our marriage, our wedding photo album, nor our updated paystubs/financial information. She just asked to see the marriage certificate, then asked 3 questions: 1. How did you meet her? How long have you known your spouse for? 2. Does she have any kids, any previous marriages beforehand? (we responded no and no, she responded with good, I felt that if you were divorced beforehand or had kids with a spouse other than the immigrating spouse there would be more scrutiny in your case) 3. Do you and your spouse share the same religion? She then said you are approved, and can pickup your passport with the visa from Aramex. She handed my husband a final paper that stated "Dear Applicant your visa is approved and should be ready within two weeks." with the Aramex address, hours, and contact number. We are now waiting for the visa to be ready and I will book the flight to the US Overall good experience, quick and efficient. Rating : Very Good
