Had a very positive experience.
I was in the consulate for about 3 hours, the actual interview was about 3-4 minutes. I waited for 1.5 hours in the waiting room and then was finally called up to a counter to provide all my original documents (mariage cert, birth cert, police cert, 1 passport style photo, my passport). I was also asked for my spouses W2 and 2021 taxes. It was about 10 mins. I was given a domestic abuse pamphlet and told to return to the waiting area until the interview officer called me up for the actual interview. I wait for another 1.5 hours.
I was then called up a second time for the actual interview. Questions asked were:
- name of husband?
- where does your husband live?
- how did you meet?
- were you given a domestic abuse pamphlet when you checked in at the 1st counter (this is when I initially got called up to provide all my original documents to another officer)?
- have you visited any other countries in the last 5 years besides the US?
I had to do an oath before the officer started asking questions, I can't remember the phrasing but it was basically you agreeing that everything you say today is truthful.
And then he told me "I intend to approve your visa today" and proceeded to tell me that it could take up to 2 weeks for my passport (with the visa enclosed inside) to be mailed to my home address (as I selected the courier option when I registered my appointment)
So excited to have finally reached this point, thank you to everyone on this form for posting updates. Your contributions helped me a lot in my preparations! Best of luck to others |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
