Consulate Review: Frankfurt, Germany
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 1, 2022
Embassy Review : Overall we had a really good experience.

Frankfurt processed our paperwork really fast. Meaning.
First, they approved the I-130 within 8 days
Second, they approved the DS-260 within 8 days
Third, we got our appointment within two weeks or so of our DS-260.
Fourth, we go my wife's passport back within a week of her interview.

The interview day was pretty easy and straightforward.

However, with that said, we did Direct Consular Filing, so we bypassed USCIS and NVC altogether.
Also, I put together a pretty good package making sure we had a table of context and we tabbed our documents and used small bind clips to keep whole documents together with a giant binder clip to clip the whole package together. I also included a cover letter for both the I-130 and DS-260

With this said, I would recommend that when submitting documents to the Consulate, make sure your package is complete and that your submission is organized. Make their job easy and I think you will find that you will get a good result from the Frankfurt Consulate.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Seattle
Event Description
Entry Date : 2022-07-11
Embassy Review : Arrived at SEATAC after an 11-hour flight from Frankfurt. Took some time to get our bags and then onward to Passport Control.

Once we arrived there, we go into line and ended up waiting about 15 minutes. After that, it was our turn. Stepped up, and handed the officer a large package, and passports. He opened the package up and he was looking for the medical records. I told them that Frankfurt does electronic ones. Then he took our photos and handed back the passport saying that they don't STAMP immigrant passports, and he handed back the package. Someone, I am thinking that is wrong about stamping the passport since then there would be no proof of her entering and there would be employment issues until my wife received her Green Card. So, he ended up checking.

Then we got escorted into another location, where they took everything, waited about 10 minutes, and were called up. They verified the address for the green card to be sent. After that, they stamped the passport, saying that this will act as a Temporary Green Card for 1 year and that we should receive the actual Green Card in about 3 weeks. After that, they sent us on our way.

So, a little confusion.

With that, all that I have to say is make sure you get the STAMP on the passport.

Filed our package directly with the consulate here in Frankfurt, since I live here in Germany, and my time in Germany is coming to an end. They did a really quick approval. I made sure that I had EVERYTHING in my filing, table of context, and I tabbed everything out.

Submitted the following letter to the Frankfurt Consulate: Dear Sir or Madam: I can't thank you enough for your office's quick response in handling our case. With the I-130 approval, I was able to submit an application to the Military to get my wife a SOFA card and she will be traveling from Thailand to join me here in Germany before the end of April. With that said, as we gather our information to submit her for a VISA, I have some questions concerning the police report requirements and I appreciate some guidance. As to the Police Report From Thailand, since she is going to be outside of Thailand and living in Germany before or very near May 1st of this year, would it be advisable for her to obtain the report before she departs Thailand, and would there be an issue if the report is issued say two or three weeks before she leaves Thailand as far as its validity? As to the Policy Report From Germany, since we are hopefully planning on submitting her package to your office shortly after she arrives, provided she has the Thai Police Report in hand, do we still have the requirement to submit a Police Report from here in Germany? Sincery,

On 24 May 2022, we had our interview. We got to the Consulate early, and we were finished not too soon after our actual appointment time. I was able to go into the Consulate with my Wife since her English is not the best, nor does she speak German. With that said, we went to windows 22 for initial check-in, and to give them some additional documents that were asked for. After that Window 17. Where we went over the documents and the form. Since my wife's name was changed when she was young, they asked for a document showing that change. And we just happened to have it with us. After that, we had the interview. My wife was put under oath, and she was asked questions about how we met, what kind of work does she do, how long she has been in Germany, and where we will go to live in the United States. During the interview process, we all had big smiles. I could tell this was an easy approval. So easy, the lady that interviewed us didn't tell us that she was approved but that only her passport will be sent back to her within a few weeks. Today on 1 June 2022 we picked up the passport at Mail Boxes ETC. Our next plans are to enter the U.S. in July 2022. After we have the temporary I-551 in her passport, we will be putting in the N-400 for her to become a citizen.

Today we mailed our N-400, attachment, and biometrics to USCIS office in Phones. Unfortunately, since we are in Germany it will take about 2 weeks to arrive via APO mail. But then again, if I was not stationed here in Germany, we would not have been able to do this prior to actually receiving the Green Card.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
