Member Reviews:

Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 22, 2023
Embassy Review : Yesterday was the big day.
I was asked:
What is the name of your petitioner?
Your petitioner's phone number?
Your petitioner's address?
Your address?
Your phone number?
Your nationality?
Have you ever lived anywhere other than Canada?
How and when did you meet?
When did your relationship start?
Have you been to any countries other than the US in the past 5 years?
What was your longest stay in the US?
Have you had any issues with US immigration in the past?
Have you ever been denied entry to the US?
Is this your first marriage?
Is this your petitioner's first marriage?
What does your petitioner do for work?
How much money does he make?
How will you be financially supported when you are in the US?
Documents I was asked for:
Confirmation of payment for interview
My passport + photocopy of bio page
Birth certificate + photocopy
i-134 Affidavit of Support
Proof of petitioner income
My police report + photocopy
2 passport photos of myself
I was asked if there was anything else I would like to provide as evidence to support my case and I said no, as long as there was nothing else needed.

She congratulated me, said she has approved me for the K-1 visa and that my visa will arrive in 1-2 weeks. Before leaving I was given a paper with directions on how to see the tracking info for the package. I arrived 15 minutes early and was out of the consulate 44 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. It all happened quicker than expected. Also, there were lots of things they never asked for but I'm glad I was prepared!

CEAC now says "Issued" and a shipping label has been created for my visa package to be delivered.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
