Of course!
I will start by saying that Lyes, my Algerian fiancé, had a really good experience. He said everyone at the embassy was very nice and they instantly put him at ease when he met the first person that asked for his documents before the interview and said to him “congratulations†like he was already approved. That helped put him at ease.
Then he had to sit in the waiting area for about 15 minutes before he was called to do his interview. They asked about our names and both of our ages. They asked him about my work, and they wanted him to explain exactly what I do in detail. (They didn’t ask about his work). The also asked about religion and whether we were the same (we are not, Lyes is Muslim and I am not religious, and they were just fine with that). They asked if we knew each others families and if our families knew about us. (We had pics of FaceTime calls with our families as evidence so very easy). They asked how we met and how long we have been together. They asked about the proposal was like and who proposed to whom. And the whole process took about 20 minutes.
The one thing I can say is that we had a ton of evidence and it was well organized, and I think they were just double checking him to see if he had the same answers that we had in documents and pics.
They mostly looked a lot at our photos and asked friendly questions. Also, the other really big plus for us is that we have a child together. So they looked at our time together, when I got pregnant, and the pics of our son and basically jus congratulated my fiancé for getting to come be with his family finally.
If you have any specific questions or concerns let me know and I can tel you how we prepared for it all.
Also, once you get your approval from USCIS , if you have any questions or need help navigating the next steps I’m happy to help!! Good luck to everyone else out there waiting!! 🩷

Thank you so much for this! Oh goodness it's hard for me to even explain to my friends what My job is lol. He really knows nothing About it other than I'm always in meetings. I may have to coach him on that! I have duplicated the k1 packet for him and added all of the financial stuff. Thank again! Seems pretty straight forward! I will definitely reach out to you personally if I need help!!! Thanks again!

I actually had to coach on my job details as well, but so happy I did. He said that was the only question they wanted in detail. Sounds like you are super prepared also so you guys should have a smooth process also! Best of luck and hope you get your approval soon!

Hi Mickey and Med,
Once I signed I just scanned and emailed. Then he printed it out and signed and took that with him. That seemed to work just fine for the embassy.

Hello ,Have you documented the translated papers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or have you settled for translation from an accredited office only? Thanks
LyesandAmy on 2023-06-07 said:
Hi Mickey and Med, Lyes just had his documents translated through an accredited source. He didn’t take or translate anything with the ministry of foreign affairs.
If you need to know which docs need to be translated, let me know!

Sorry for the delay on getting back to you @Mickey & Med, but he just went to a certified translator in the city he lives in.
He said that as long as it is any certified translator, that works. There was no specific office or department to go to.
The docs he had translated were:
Birth certificate
Police record
Proof of no prior marriage
Also, if your partner has any military records those will need to be translated as well. I’m not sure, but those may have to be translated by the military office. (Lyes was exempt from military duty so we didn’t have to worry about the docs).
Hope that helps!

Hey how many days did it take to get your case number?
Mickey & Med on 2023-06-22 said:
Hey there , sorry for asking so many questions lol ,i want to know if the embassy send packets 3 and 4 after the case was ready on the site , thanks ðŸ™
LyesandAmy on 2023-06-22 said:
Again, sorry for the delay in answering the questions.
@Sasha Uneek- it took 60 days from our i-129F Approval notification. I know that is says it should just take 30 days, but much like everything else with the K1 process, it took longer. Also, I emailed the NVC regularly to check in on an update. I got out NVC Number at 60 days BECAUSE I emailed them again asking for an update and they finally provided it. Had I not emailed them and they responded, it would have taken them another 12 days to finally get the number emailed to me.
@Mickey and Med, I have no idea what they mean by packet 3 and 4. There were no "packets" we received. After we had out I-129F Approval and received a case number from NVC, then I personally went ahead and just completed the next steps. I didn't wait for the embassy to tell us we were ready to move forward. They take too long. If you have an NVC number it is time to create a CEAC account. Once you do that, and complete the CEAC, you will get a confirmation page. Once you have that confirmation page, you can start to setup your USTravel docs account which is the next step you have to take to pay for the visa fees and set up your interview. I will be honest, this was a frustrating part. Because you can complete the CEAC and have your confirmation number, but you need to check on the "NVC Status" to make sure they have submitted your case to the embassy. Once your case is submitted and you have paid your visa fee at Aramex, you will get a receipt number that you can enter into USTraveldocs about 48 hours later, once you are able to enter your receipt number, you will be able to set up your interview. Then, once you set up your interview you will have to start the task of getting your medical exam set up. This is a frustrating part. You HAVE to email the clinic to get an interview time setup, they do not take phone calls and even if they answer your phone call they will not schedule you over the phone. Also, when you email it takes them approximately 5 days to get you scheduled. Make sure in your initial email to them to give them the interview date. Even though it takes 5 days for them to respond, they will respond, and should be able to get you in before your interview. Then the next part is just having all your docs and going to the interview. I hope this helps. And if you have any other questions, please ask away! I am very happy to help answer anything I can, I know this is a stressful time trying to get everything done and we are all just trying to get through it together.
The one thing I can say that worked in our favor as to why we were able to get our case continually moved forward is because I was constantly checking in and being proactive. At no point did I ever just wait for any of the departments to reach out to me, I sent many many emails to USCIS, NVC, USTravelDocs, and the US Embassy in Algiers. (If anyone needs help finding the emails or support lines to contact let me know). That is the only way we got anything done and moved forward within a reasonable time.
For example, I already had Lyes' CEAC case number done and created and we had paid the visa fee and had an interview time scheduled by the time the NVC sent a letter/email letting me know it was time for us to create a CEAC account.

Hi LyesandAmy congrats on finally being together. I have a question for Lyes and it’s about military documents. So he didn’t have to show or translate his “carte jaune” ?
Thanks.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
