Comments : A major advice! Don't get married immediately after you arrive in US! Get the social security card first within 2 weeks and then get married the next day! This advice seemed to be missing in the visa journey! Otherwise, the ssn will be delayed by 6-7 months! It happened to us!

Greencard Received:
Comments : They lost out marriage certificate! So a RFE was issued and we immediately got a duplicate and mailed it with a guaranteed delivery from the local post office. Make sure, you get duplicates from the local office instead of running at the last minute to the marriage office. Go to your local office and inquire about the status (make an appointment online); it is important. Once we went to the local office, they corrected a minor mistake and within a week, everything started happening!

POE Review: Atlanta
Event Description
Entry Date : 2008-07-09
Embassy Review : If you have your documents ready, then everything is smooth. The agents were very polite, if they see you are polite and dressed reasonably well.
Harassment Level : Low

Local US CIS Office Review: Santa Ana CA
Review Topic: cis_topic
Event Description
Review Date : December 31, 2008
Embassy Review : Went to Santa Ana for a Tax ID without realizing that we don't need a tax id since we are eligible for SSN soon. Don't take your cell phone with you. they won't let you in. It was fortunate that we went there since they checked our documents online and found an error and immediately next week, things started happnening.
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
