Comments : When my fiancé arrived to Johannesburg his name was not on the list but since he had a print out of the appointment confirmation page he was able to confirm appointment and was seen. They did not have his paper work ready nor his medical package. We think they weren’t prepared with the paperwork because his name was not on the list. They interviewed him but the medical paper was not found even though it was sent and was at the consulate office at Johannesburg. The officer kept my fiancés passport and said that he’s good to go. When I check the CEAC website (the 1st of October/after his interview) the status said “refused” for a week due to the medical paper that was not found. We were extremely anxious but I knew that when they keep the passport after the interviews that means the visa was approved. We were a little confused either way. A week after (the 8th) the status in CEAC changed to “application received”, then the next day (the 9th) it changed to “approved” and on the 12th the visa status on CEAC was changed to “issued”. My fiancé received his visa 4 days later on the 16th. He also received an email of the from DHL when the tacking of the visa package became available. There was also a mishap with his medical paper work at Cape Town the day he flew out to the appointment at Johannesburg but was sorted on the same day. We think that was what complicated the situation and lead to his name not being on the list but we thank God it all went soothly despite these little scares we faced. We were disappointed that the medical paperwork was not handled properly but it all worked out in the end. We cannot wait to be together at last and get married 12-12-2022. We wish you all the very best!

Embassy Review : In Capetown, there there was a mishap with my fiancés medical exam and that threw off the interview process. My fiancés name was not on the list the day he was scheduled for an appointment and we think it was because of the mishap with the medical exam. It all got sorted none the less and my fiancé left his passport the same day of the interview with the officer and received his passport 15 days later. Wish they could be more organized at Capetown to avoid this errors.

It's a shame that it takes more than a year just to get a NOA 2. Well congrats to y'all. That's very exciting 🎉🎈

So exciting, congratulations!! Your information helps out a lot and puts my mind a bit at ease. I'll be doing my medical in Cape Town as well but then interview in JHB. Now I'll know what to do if something goes wrong like yours😅

Thank you so much! Glad it helped😃 Feel free to message us if you have questions. I saw your time timeline. You guys should be hearing about the NOA2 by the end of the year. You guys are almost there too! We are so fortunate that here are no backlogs in South Africa so things move very quickly after USCIS and NVC stage😊

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
