Hi! I am awaiting an interview for my husband’s IR-1 at the Embassy in Ankara. What date was your file considered documentarily complete at NVC? How long did you wait for an interview after this? I want to know how backlogged the cases are that the Embassy in Ankara. Thank you and congratulations!

We were DQ's on March 5th, got an interview date on March 18th, and the date of the interview was April 4th. So we waited exactly 1 month for the interview. However, our process may have been longer compared to others, and our priority date was Sep 12, 2020, I don't know if it makes a difference though. According to other people in Turkey, you can expect to wait around 8 weeks, which isn't too bad I think.

Thank you so much for explaining! We are hoping to receive our interview date soon, so this was very helpful.

Hello! I was wondering if you had any ideas as to why your Ankara interview and approval happened so quickly after your DQ. We're expecting a baby in 5 months, so we're not sure if we should plan to deliver in the States or wait to move until after the birth.
Thanks for sharing information along the way; its been helpful and hopeful!

I was thinking it was maybe because we had an early priority date (Sep 12 2020). That's why I think we got an early date for the appointment. However, I noticed that most people in Turkey get an appointment for 6-8 weeks after they are DQ'd. So I don't suppose it'll take that long for you. Is you wife a Turkish citizen? Non-Turkish citizens may be waiting longer but I'm not sure.

Da & Nu, congratulations on your upcoming child! When was your case DQ’d? Ours was DQ’d on April 4th but we still haven’t received an email about an interview. My husband is not a Turkish citizen. He is Iraqi but the embassy in Baghdad is closed so maybe we’ll have to wait longer...
And I agree, thank you SBHbb67 for updating your case and being so responsive. This is the most help I’ve gotten in understanding about how long we’ll be waiting.

You're very welcome JBen23. Only those qhqo went through this mini-hell can umderstand what we are going through, that's why I am trying to help others in any way that I can. I also want to add that there is a couple who got DQ'd on April 8th and they are also still waiting for an interview approintment. It appears that the Ankara consulate has slowed down a bit, but I would guess that you will not have to wait all that long. You are in the final stretch, hang in there :)

Hi JBen23. We were just DQed last week on April 21st, so we have at least a little waiting to do before hearing back about the interview. My husband is a Turkish citizen. I'll try to update you when we hear back about the interview date. Good luck with yours!

Thank you so much! It’s a club no one wants to be a part of, but I’m thankful for other people who understand how hard it is.

I’ll update here as well if we get an interview date!

Waiting to hear from you! Good luck
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
