Embassy Review : I feel as though the whole interview process was a lot less scary than I had told myself. The Embassy, itself, is easy to get to if you're travelling by public transport, and the entry process isn't too daunting either.
You do, however, have to wait outside whilst someone checks over your appointment letter and ID, which isn't the best when it's raining.

I'll just add that prior to your interview, you receive an email from the embassy with details on what to expect, the location, required documents and the security measurements. I would also like to emphasise that it's VITAL you bring every single piece of paperwork/evidence you can think of because it's not always listed on goverment websites/checklists.

One thing I did notice about my experience was the very friendly staff. The procedure is like an airport but the people are chatty and welcoming.

From the journey to the actual interview, for me, everything went smoothly. However... I failed to bring two paper copies of requested documents;
1) An updated letter of agreement from my fiance stating that he is willing and happy to marry me within the 90 days
2) His tax returns

Thankfully, the consular officer was very kind to me and gave me an email address where I could send these documents as I had them digitally. Unfortunately, this did not change my interviewer's decision when they then offered me a 221(g).
Despite the unwanted outcome, I left the embassy feeling slightly relieved, I think the friendliness of the staff had put me at ease from the beginning.

Thank you for sharing your experience at the embassy. I was there yesterday for my interview and got a 221(g) as well - they requested an updated letter of intent to marry, despite our petition not having expired yet! We submitted the documents to he email address yesterday, and reading your story has helped us calm down a bit from the shock of seeing "refused". Hope you hear back soon and get your approval! All the best to you and your fiance

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
