I waited about 20-30 mins at the US Customs and Border Protection for the review of my documents. I was called at one of the windows. The officer asked me where I was headed, name of my petitioner, what he does for a living and my intended address in the US. After that, she stamped on my passport. They did not ask for the XRAY CD. |

Interview date and time: January 6, 2021, 7:30 am
The consulate opened at exactly 7:30am. The security at the door asked me if I followed COVID related restrictions in Montreal. After that I was let in and gave my passport to the lady checking the appointment date and time. She put a sticker on the back of my passport and gave it back to me with my ticket number.
I went through an airport like security. I was asked to put my phone and galaxy buds in the tiny locker. I had my documents and small bag with me. (Please do not bring any large bags or even laptop bags. They won't allow any of those inside. The locker you put your electronics in is tiny.)
I went up to the second floor and waited for about 10 minutes before my number was called. I went to Window 6 and was asked to give the following documents:
- Passport and photocopy of the biographical page
- Birth Certificate (Applicant) original and photocopy
- Photocopy of PR Card
- MRV Fee payment receipt
- Police Certificate from Canada and Philippines (original)
- Affidavit of Support with supporting documents (original)
My fingerprints was taken. They asked my fiancé's number and confirmed my address. I was asked to sit down and wait for my number to be called again. After 10 minutes my number was called and I went to Window 2, they confirmed my identity and went on to ask me questions.
This was when I was asked these questions:
- Tell me about your fiancé.
- How did you meet?
- Have you been to the US?
- Have you been arrested?
- What are your wedding plans?
After that, we had a little chat since the lady who did my interview is from the State where my fiancé is from. I was told that my visa is approved and wait 2-3 weeks.
Overall, the experience was excellent. I was in at 7:36am and was out at 8:39am. Just make sure you have all documents (Original and Photocopy) if possible.
God bless to everyone who are going for their interview.

Timeline Comments: 5It seems like your case was approved pretty rapidly from the time you filed, did you use a lawyer?
I did not. I filed it myself. I just did a lot of research on K1 Visa application and mostly asked question here too.
Did you expedite your EAD?
Yes I did. I expedited twice. The first one got denied then after a week I requested for expedite again and they approved it.
Thank you for your response. We’re still waiting for the EAD and unsure if we should expedite.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
