Comments : June 1, 2005 used InfoPass to schedule AOS/EAD appointment and could not get an appointment until July 21, 2005.

July 21, 2005 we were told that with the DORA program usually processing cases within 90 days (with no RFE or problems) that paying $175.00 and filing for EAD would be a waste of money so we did not file for that.

Sept 29 - Received a letter stating they will not be able to complete the case within 90 days. They already have set the appointment.

10/4 - Got an email stating they receieved results and process is can resume on the AOS

10/5 - Got another email stating same thing about the results.

10/17 - Went to the appt CIS had set for us at 8101 Stemmings (NOT same office as the interview was). The guy asked a couple questions and then said we\'d probably be better of not paying and just waiting, like we had planned anyway. So waiting continues.... LOL

11/14 - Contacted the congressman's office

12/28 - Call from congressman office - case cleared 12/6 approved 12/28

1/06/06 - Adam's GC came in today

1/10 - Applied for SS card

Embassy Review : Thanks to VJ members who hadgone through Montreal before us we were told that no matter what time your appt states.... be there by about 7:30am. You'll be one of the first in line.

When getting on the elevator.... go straight to the back, left side as you're facing in. This is because when the elevator stops, you will exit the "back" and turn left to go to the windows.

As far as medicals go.... we were told that when Adam went for his medical to get a duplicate from the doctor. This came in handy since when we had our AOS interview, the officer was very pleased it was there. She said so many times the medical that was previously submitted hasn't caught up wth the rest of the file and she has to RFE lots of people until they get another one done.
Rating : Very Good

Embassy Review : We are currently going through the DORA program in Dallas, Texas.
We were advised to not waste the money filing for EAD and AP since the goal of this program is to complete the cases within 90 days.
Other than it taking longer than the stated 90 days, our AOS experience has been excellent.

Our AOS interview which was July 21, 2005 went very well. The officer who interviewed us said that it looked like we had everything in order and the case shouldn't take very long.

Hard to do the rating here since the people in the offices we have dealt with have been great. It's just the process that is taking too long. LOL

As of today, Nov. 8, 2005 we have heard nothing else
Harassment Level : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
