Consulate Review: Guangzhou, China
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 29, 2008
Embassy Review : We got BLUE!!
Would have been nicer to get the Visa, but we will have it in a few weeks. Following is Yumei's letter to me following the interview.
Dear Rick,
I ran around these days lately. I thought I would hear good news today. At 5am I left the hotel where I stayed, I went to the gate of the consulate and waited in line. I took a suitcase full of materials and copies of emails, etc. I was the one who took most materials. When people saw that I took sufficient materials and photos and copies of emails, they all thought I could pass the interview for sure. We were checked one by one following procedure. Everything went well when I answered their questions and their inquiry on my materials, and I gave complete materials to them. I knew, you were very careful and you had prepared sufficient materials. I fully trust you. When the visa officer said you had not provided tax return report of 2007, I took out all your documents, and I pointed at document with number 2007 to her, she said it was not. Finally she asked me to supplement materials. And she asked if I had joint photos of me with child since child was born till now, I should provide the photos to her as well.
Dear, although I was a little sad. Please do not apologize. Let us try to cooperate with them to collect documents and send them to them soon. I love you. I do not allow you to apologize. Our hearts are connected. We are in love , so we need not apologize. You did not expect this to happen. Do not feel frustrated. We must remain strong and work together.
My love, my darling, may god bless us in everything!
kiss you! miss you! love you! think about you!

NOTE: I am a business man who traditionally gets a tax filing extension, and files in October. I had sent her a copy of my wage statements and a copy of my extension. My mistake, I did not think it would be an issue as I have a legal extension. So now I chase my accountant and beg for my taxes to be done ASAP!!
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
