Hey, yes I did interview in Addis Ababa ,the embassy is currently working on emergency visas , they are only working in a very limited capacity,

Hello congrats !!! i am us citizen. My case is at NVC we had new boy before 4 month a go. He got usa emergency passport. Then send expedite request before 4 days .but today nvc respond Due to security issues, the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia has suspended routine visa services.   We are unable to forward your expedite request to the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa for review. The U.S. Embassy will resume visa services as soon as possible but cannot provide a specific date I don't know why they respond such email. Could you tell me your advice?

Hey , ya if you send expedite request to NVC they replay like that , try to contact US embassy A.A mentioning your Case no and u have a US citizen baby and you want him to depart from A.A because of the current situation but he can’t travel with out his mother coz his mother’s case is stack at NVC , the embassy might ask the NVC to forward your case to them

@tadu The NVC only accepts expedite request if it is a life or death case. May be if you have a US citizen child living in ET you might contact the embassy in A.A

Thank Afiya! My request was submitted back in November, 2021. They replied to my lawyer in January, 2022 by saying they’re unable to transfer to the US embassy in Ethiopia. I have a personal case, but related to child. It’s so sad what is happening to some of us waiting for almost two years or more now! This whole waiting period on top of visa processing suspension is dragging our life backwards. Can’t even do any productive work☹️! Thank you again for your reply. Wish us a good luck 🍀

Thank you afiya for your soft respond. Do you think us embaasy in A.A can facilitate my case. For your surprise i had appointment in us embassy addis on December 23 for my baby emeegency passport and the us councillor told me if your case is transferred to the embassy she can process my case. But she checked my case number and she say your case is at nvc so us embassy in addis ababa can do anything and she advice me to send expedite request to NVC after your baby passport is ready. She told us since now we are working for us citizen and their immediate familes and you are the the father of us child you can expedite your case. Then based on her advice after we got our baby emergency paspport we send the expedite request to nvc including supportive documents like my baby medical letter and ultrasound result which states he need medical treatment (surgical treatment) with in six month , my wife employer letter which states she must return to work other wise she my lose her work. But they send such letter. I don't know how can i do?

@Anduamlak it is really sad ,the situation you told me is more than enough to expedite your case , I don’t kno what they are doing , I advice you to write a letter for your state congress office explaining your situation detail , they might help you .
